Mogami Power Cable

DIY project: Looking to build an AC power cable for receiver and was wondering if anyone has used Mogami cable for build.  Quite a few youtube vids showing builds with Yarbo or Oyaide cables but only one that I can find using Mogami 2534 cable (ungrounded/unshielded).  Any suggestions are appreciated!  Thanks

Mogami 2534 is for audio signal not for AC power!  Am I missing something here?

You can't use signal cable.  Beware as anyone can make and post a youtube video.

I googled the other 2 cables you mentioned and they look nice.  they are the metric equivalent of 10awg so are good for an amp and are well shielded.  (the shield isn't so much for your power cable but for nearby signal cables, not really required in most cases).

I'm pretty sure you are referencing the wrong cable since that cable is balanced and shielded and the wrong kind.

In any event, though I'm a huge Mogami cable fan, you want the DH Labs cables instead:

If you are going to build an ungrounded/unshielded cable for a unit that does not require ground, that makes sense.

I prefer to make only shielded power cables to minimize noise pickup after my power conditioners though.  This is true even when going to a device that does not require ground.  The shielding is worth it for me.

Worth noting that most power cables have a ground wire but are not foil shielded.

As I mentioned, both of the other cables mentioned by the OP are shielded.

In addition to what Erik said, I'll add that I don't trust this guy much.  I'd double check everything he says, especially whether a ground wire is required.  His graphics call 2 12awg wires 6 awg which is wrong (they are about 9 awg) so he lacks some understanding.  I didn't watch the rest of the video to see if he got other things wrong.

Thanks so much for the responses!  I've had very good luck with Mogami speaker and rca cables in the past and was hoping for a Mogami power cable.  I will take a look at the DH Labs cables for sure.  I've heard great things about the Yarbo and Oyaide cables but the Yarbo appears to be a bit tricky to work with removing the teflon jacket from each conductor strand.  Do you have any recommendations for plugs?  Thanks again!

@lcjockey I thought I saw a yarbo option that didn't have individual insulated strands.  I think that was an idea not well thought out and they are eager to sell out of it.  I agree, avoid it.  -Jerry
