Modern Turkish music

I have recently been watching some Turkish tv dramas and have been very impressed with the quality of the productions, but especially with some of the soundtracks.  They seem to be a fusion of Eastern & Western mix, which sounds very nice to my ears.  I will post them here and would like your opinions and if you know of any more.  Furthermore, there is one rap song I have listened to which I have also been quite impressed with.  Rap is NOT something I listen to at all, but this one has struck a chord with me.

Note that some of the recordings are actually quite bad but that is all I could find on youtube.  Some songs have hi res versions on Apple Music and/or Quobuz but not all.  If you know of better quality recordings, I would like to know.

Here are some of them.  Since I have not been able to crack the magic of how to add more than one link to each message, I will add one in separate messages.

(If you also know how to do that, it would be great to know)

Well, there is a band from Turkey that I like but it is different from what you've been engaged in. They use traditional Turkish instrument but with electronic effects. They play Turkish folk psychedelic with projected images and belly dancers. They're 'Baba Zula' from Istanbul.

@goofyfoot

Thanks for letting me know.  I will check them out.  If you have a favorite of theirs, please add it here to this thread :-)

Thanks

Here's their website; https://www.babazula.com/

 'Gecekondu' is consistently good throughout. 'Cecom' is one of my favorite songs and here's the video; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FPzJ58DRZ5U

Interesting.  I never knew they existed LOL.  Very different genre.  I would never have guessed.

Thanks for pointing them out.

In the meantime, I also discovered this in Turkish pop.  It really affected me.  It is a very simple melody but emotionally it affected me quite a bit.  You can feel the woman's pain coming right through the music.

This guy is also very interesting.  I heard that in his videos, everything you see represents something symbolic in life.  Very interesting to watch:  His screen name is Mabel Matiz.

"interesting" to say the least by a Turkish performer sung in English :) The music is kid pop but is actually nice:

This is an incredibly beautiful and sad song about how to continue loving someone in sickness nearing death.  Unfortunately, the subtitles are apparently way off in translation.

Check out Saran's music selections over at 6moons.com. His tastes venture all around those regions and it might be up your alley. You might also like Antakya by Quadro Nuevo, one of my all time favorite artists.

All the best,

@nonoise

I listened to Quadro Nuevo. They are quite different and very nice. Thanks for the suggestion :-)

@cakyol ,

Yes, there's something about that group and the way they play together. I took a CD of theirs over to the owner of a high end audio saloon that I know who played in an orchestra and he just smiled all the way through it, saying "these guys are having fun."

All the best,
Nonoise

I do love Turkish music, I think Turkish language is very expressive and full of emotions, and very musical. Loads of drama, and great mix between oriental and occidental influences.

@rolox

I have been enjoying a lot of the music too.  Some of them are very orchestral & musical.

If you know any good pieces, please put the youtube links here into this thread.

Thanks

One of the most beautiful soundtracks from a very addictive but tragic series:
