Mconnect and Bricasti

BibbleUPnP is better.  Or try HiFiCast.

Look under the browser tab in mconnect and see what is listed under local server.  If you see anything related to your bricasti, choose it.  Are you using Qobuz ot Tidal?

You want “Play To” to find the Bricasti. There is a refresh button (circular arrow) to force a new look.  “Browser” is where the music comes from. “Play To” is where the music goes to. 

Is the Bricasti a player as well as a DAC?

The network card on the Bricasti is a renderer/player, not a streamer. You need to be running UPnP/DLNA software on your network for it to talk to. It does look like BubbleUPnP may be your best option as it does have Qobuz integration unlike JRiver.

I know "player" and "streamer" sound like they should be the same and that you should be able to just send a signal to the device. The key is, unless something explicitly says its a streamer it requires a separate server in conjunction. Player, Renderer and Network Bridges generally require servers.

Thanks for the replies. I sold a Cary 700 that did everything for the M3 with a network card. I think I have to set up a nas for different options and getting DSD to the Dac. 
So I can set up the NAS with the software needed as well as storing all my DSD files and play everything thru the network to the Bricasti? I have always had all in one players or dedicated streamers/servers that I could attach my files too. 
The NAS seems like the way to go vs a dedicated player or am I missing a part in the equation? 

I had a Synology server but I couldn’t get the minim server software to do anything.The server then got ruined with malware-I had been using it to store non music data.

  I would use a dedicated player/streamer.  With the exception of some really awful ones such as Bryston, they tend to work, have significant Internet Radio and streaming, and might have useful features such as Bluetooth, AirPlay, or Chromecast.  If they come with dedicated storage they tend to provide ripping software that makes everything easier as well.

A NAS or dedicated server will do the trick running UPnP software.  My experience is that the server/player approach sounds better than solo streamers.  It is more complex and tends to cost more but if sound quality is your priority, best solution.  

Mconnect showed up Today.  Just tried it again and it worked with no further software/configuration   Definitely sounds different than Roon.  Have to do some extended listening.

How do you like the M3?  I'm thinking of trying it.  I have a PS Audio DAC now.

I love my M3 even more so than my M1 (non-se version). Does everything I was looking for.

You definitely want the Network card installed. Sounds much better in my system than the USB with a few caveats:.  The network card has the added benefit of  Melco's ethernet filtering and an Uptone EtherRegen w/LPS upstream . SoTM cabling on the Ethernet side and  Final Touch Callisto on the USB.

I can run Melco's native app ( Mconnect) only thru USB. So Tidal, Quboz , and local storage( Melco) are played that way.

Running Roon  the Melco is acting like a Nas. So Tidal and Qobuz are running thru the Melco > EtherRegen>Bricasti. This setup sound much more transparent and open.  Lot of variables involved but my personal opinion is the Network card is the way to go.
