I did post this before but could not find it so I figured there might be some new insight.
Matching a Spectral DMA 180 with a preamp that is not Spectral
As the question reads, I am looking for an alternative to Spectral when working with my amp. I have been looking for 2 years for a Spectral Pre and the timing has always been off. They are rare on the used market in the $1000 range.

I am someone who has eliminated the preamp ( additional active stage ), from my system. Without being crude, I do not understand why anyone would own such a fine amp ( with such high speed and wide bandwidth ), and feed it a mediocre, at best, preamp. This is not proper system matching. My experience with Spectral is " as a system " approach. ymmv. Enjoy ! |
