There is a new Ayre cx8 with a streaming option. Could be a real good choice.
Marantz SACD 30n vs Technics SL-G700M2 vs Mark Levinson 5101
I've been looking at current SACD / network player offerings. Both the Marantz 30n and Technics SL-G700M2 look attractive, and a used Mark Levinson 5101 can be had in that price range. All three play SACD and red book CD, all three offer DAC function of digital input streams, all three offer wifi networking.
Has anyone done a head to head listening comparison of these three?
Based on Marantz's reputation for musicality, the 30n (and lower price!) the 30n would be a no-brainer first choice for me vs Technics, except for the following: How does it sound compared to Levinson's formidable brand reputation, and there's no balanced analog output -- single ended only and better networking and streaming support in the Technics. Meanwhile, I would think the Levinson has the best audio performance but probably the least well developed networking support
So I'm guessing (and in order of importance):
- Levinson beats Marantz beats Technics for musicality
- Technics beats Marantz beats Levinson for wifi networking support
- Technics and Levison both beat Marantz with balanced analog output
Thoughts?
@allanblissett good point. I should have remembered that, I'm considering purchasing the Rotel! |
Agree with @jayctoy. Buy new or almost new CDPs. OP might also consider Luxman... |
