The migration of the site was amateur at best. The site slowing to nearly unusable, then going completely offline for some users while others were able to post new listings.
I checked http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com several times and it was offline, then back and off again.
I contacted Tammy and she told me that the site was offline, but it wasn’t. This went on for a couple of days.
I purchased an amp from someone but then couldn’t complete the payment as the site repeatedly crashed. The seller contacted me and asked me to pay them directly. I didn’t and was frustrated that the seller might re-list the amp. 3 days later I was finally able to complete my purchase.
A professional developer would have given users advance notice and then taken the site offline while posting a landing page that stated it was offline for migration/upgrade. While I did start seeing such a page it was only after the site was crippled for several days.
Very disappointing.
So are there plans to update these archaic forums ?
A vBulletin license is pretty reasonable. I built vB forums many years ago and they’re great for both the user and the administrators.
