Magnepan 3.6R tweeter replacement - Any suggestion

Just got of the phone with Sheila at Magnepan, you guys are right, she responded like a true superstar!!! Top notch advise, knowledge and service! Tweeter kit is on its way, Just awesome!!!

Rhanson...Magnepan never made a 2.2? They had II, II Improved, IIA, IIB, IIC, 2.5R, 2.6R & 2.7R models.

Not sure what you had, but your advice about the fuse is good. Check it to make sure.

I've seen LOTS of toasted tweeters/panels on Maggies. Usually because the owner bypassed the fuse or put a larger value in.

It IS holiday time here in the U.S., so perhaps they've just been busy.

At the risk of sounding silly, have you checked the 2.5A fuse for the affected tweeter? I can't tell you how many times I thought I had blown a tweeter (on my old 2.2/Rs), only to find that it was a simple fuse issue. With a previous buggy amp, I'd sometimes have a channel go out, so had to do the whole cable-swap/elimination thing to debug the problem.

I only ask because you did not mention doing any of that in your original post.

I find that with the proper 2.5A fuse installed, it's actually pretty hard to trash the tweeter. YMMV, of course.

Wow, I've never had a problem with Sheila returning my calls within 24 hour. She is super nice, too.

You actually pay like $600 for the (2) new tweeters and they send them in a large tube. If you return the defective tweeters in the same shipping tube, they will credit you back $400. I'm not "exactly" sure of the pricing, but it's close to that.

I was a Magnepan dealer for many years and they are an excellent customer service oriented company. Sorry you are having problems, but this isn't the norm for Magnepan.
