I owned a Delos for 30 days before upgrading to the Kleos. On my table, LP12, I noticed the following differences. Improved detail and extraction of information. Smoother more natural mids and high with a further focus on detail while maintaining musicallity and emotion. Much deeper bass and although seemingly tighter, the bass delivers a clearity surounding each note as I have not experienced on my system. Although I will add that Delos is a wonderful cartridge and on better tables will out perform my setup.
As far as the Skala I looked at that as it would have only cost 400.00 more at the time but the dealer and I came to the conclusion that the Kleos seemed to do somethings better while the Skala still may have been a slightly better performer, the Kleos was a greater value captured at 400.00 less investment. As mentioned the Delos is a tremedous value in itself. And note that on better tables and arms than mine, you may exceed my performance level.
I am using a Ekos Arm (non-SE)Trampolin, Cirkus and Lingo.
I did just have the dealer set the Raking Angle and that I find has made quite a difference in revealing information I never had extracted before. That in itself may be the direction you want to try before trade up. |
I moved from the Delos to Kleos a few months ago. If I was to do it over I would skip the Kleos and go right to the Titan i. Overall, although I find many of the same improvments Theo has enjoyed, I preferred music more with the Delos. Probably in the great minority here. Lots of threads on this subject, lots of info. |
I havent heard the upper levels of Lyra's line in my system, but the Delos is clearly the best I have heard on my system and have no great desire to spend thousands more on something else. |

Ive had the DELOS for about a year and have heard the KLEOS as well in my system and others. The Kleos is quite a discernible jump from the DELOS. Kleos is fuller, more palpable midrange, more refined highs. The Delos is a great crat for the $ and so far ive been satisfied but the Kleos is just another jump in overall performance.
Ive also heard the Titan i and about the difference I heard from the KLEOS is more high frequency extension, more air, tighter and more dynamic. Not so sure if the difference it worth it. |

I've had a number of Lyra carts--Lydian, Helikon, Kleos, and (now) the Titan i.
If you can afford it, then I would definitely and without hesitation get the Titan i.
It's simply--and I use that word specifically--another big leap forward from any of the others. It's absolutely, positively a wonderful cart! |

I have a Delos and an Atlas, and have auditioned the Titan i in my system. I would contend that the Delos is very close to the Titan i, and this would not be a productive upgrade. The new generation Delos/Kleos/Atlas are in a different league from the older generation. So in summary, I would not recommend a Titan i over a Delos or Kleos. The Titan i is just a little "smoother" than the Delos, but not enough to warrant the difference in price. The Delos is a remarkable cartridge at its price point! The Atlas, however, is amazing. |

Don't you understand what you hear? A lot replace that with the ability of reading price tags or reviews (Product Placements) and the phantasy will work very well based on that ... |

Syntax, I suppose I should explain in more detail. I set VTA visually and by listening and was happy, then acquired the ability to measure, and found I was off the recommended VTA by 2 degrees, when I attempted to set it at the recommended value, it sounded worse, "cognitive dissonance and that", just wanted to see what experiences others have had with this. Perhaps it is not to use a measuring tool and just set by ear. I would however be interested in what the measurement is when it sounds right on others rigs. |
I was wondering the same thing as Syntax when I read Dinster's opinion/advice regarding the Delos vs the Titan.
He's just getting back into vinyl after "30 years of CD" and in another thread from yesterday he asks, "What is the correct VTA for the Lyra Atlas?".
It seems Dinster has yet to hear either cartridge set up properly so his advice is useless.

I can only say that it must be in your system. Because in my system, there is a HUGE difference between Delos and Titan i. And remember my Titan i have only played for about 10 houres or so.
The delos is a good cart. But the Titan i is in a hole other league and deffently the worth the money. And that is easy for me to say, because i have`nt payed it yet ;-) |

Pierre, I'm happy for you I only gave my opinion, because I was considering exactly the move you made and was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to audition first. That was my impression, and of the vinyl nut who got me onto the dark side in the first place. There is no doubt the Lyra's have an awesome "house sound", and while the Titan i is "better", for me it it didn't justify the extra $3 or 4 k, but each has is own perception of value. It's a great cartridge, enjoy the sound, I can only imagine you are listening 24/7 trying to run it in quickly! |
I think most people who post in this forum haven't heard the stuff they post about, usually they've just read it somewhere.
The other fallacy is "because I own it it must be good".
I'm surprised no one here has suggested that perhaps an upgraded power supply for the Raven might give a bigger improvement than upgrading what is already a very good cartridge. |

I compared the Delos with a lot of cartridges, I seriously think it is one of the best out there you can buy. Independent from Price. My sentiments exactly!! |
