I've owned both. Your choice is between lean and bright on the one hand, or warm and coloured on the other. I'd pass on both. Try an Ortofon Cadenza Bronze - a clear upgrade from your Hana ML and in my opinion superior to both the Delos and the Umami.
Lyra versus Hana
Currently have a Hana ML mounted on my Feickert Volare. Arm is Audiomods Series 6. Sound is very good.
But inevitably I’m considering an upgrade.
Anyone have direct experience with the Hana Unami models (Red or Blue) and the Lyra Delos?
Speakers in this system are Joseph Audio Pulsar 2 Graphene BTW.
Thanks!
IMHO, there are no absolutes in audio as there are no two systems alike and then there are personal preferences. I have owned both Hana ML and Umami Red. And now own Etsuro Bordeaux. Since all carts made by Excel Sound, they share many of the same characteristic….relaxed and expansive sound with the right balance. Nothing is exaggerated, you just wanna sit back and listen. As you step in Hana line, you get more of everything. Umami Blue or Red; whichever you choose, you won’t not be disappointed.

@bobbydd Absolutely no competition. The Lowly Delos is superior to the two Hanas. The Kleos is on another planet. With your speakers you will definitely appreciate the two Lyras. Female voices and violins will be smoother. |
I have owned both but on different tables and systems. The Lyra on a Well Tempered that worked quite well until the stylus wore out. I sold the Well Tempered and currently use a Hana Red mounted on a Kuzma 4Point9 arm with a Acoustic Signature Hurricane Neo TT. The combo sounds wonderful! You should be happy with either one. |
In the days when I was using the Audio Media to acquire info, I feel very confident the HiFi+ as shown in the Link was a Monthly Mag' I would select items of interest from. If they are till reporting with a reliable accuracy, the Reports on the Hana Red / Blue should be quite a worthwhile read. I have learnt enough to consider the Hana Blue for myself as a Cart' of interest. |
