Luxman L-550ax

Hi,

I have just bought a Luxman L-550ax. I bought it for the reason of eventually relocating to a smaller place and need an all in one. Due to that relocation, I will eventually need to get bookshelf speakers. I've narrowed it down to the Ascilabs C6B. They are 85db at 4 ohm. Will the 550ax's 40w class A be able to drive them in no larger of a room than 15' x 20' ?

Thanks for the help

Do Genelec's use DSP for the crossover? I have been intrigued by active speakers but I listen to lots of vinyl so DSP is not viable option for me. Neumann looks cool too.

I'm not sure, you'd have to read up on them. I read about them first in Stereophile Magazine.

Here you go, from the Stereophile article -

the active Genelec G Three is a 100% all-analog, powered two-way monitor.

@bojack "The 550ax is actually a pure Class A design, so it does not transition to AB...maxes our at 40W into 4 ohms"

-not really, it is class A amp up to 20W, assuming resistive 8 Ohm load. Driving 4 Ohm load, amp will stay in class A region only up to 10W, then it will be fine AB class amp!
