According to my observation, class A power of an class AB amplifier is approximately 10% of its idle power consumption. The 505uXII idle power consumption (no signal) is 85 watts. I estimate its Class A power to be about 4 to 5 watts per channel. For example, the Parasound JC 5 has an idle power consumption (not playing music) of 225 watts, and its Class A power is 12 watts, while the Parasound JC 1+ mono block idle power consumption (not playing music) is 275 watts at high bias setting, and the class A power is 25 Watts. Pass Labs X150 idle power consumption 200 Watts with 11 Watts class A power, X600 mono block idle power consumption 600 Watts with 65 Watts class A power.
