HUGE fan here...
Lu’s Jukebox
Five more shows to go. The next one is on Thursday in 2 weeks and so on ( more or less). I think the next one is southern soul. Later shows include a Dylan night, a Xmas show, 60s country hits and New Year’s Eve is the Stones.
Several different packages are available - I went all in and got all 6 shows + digital downloads + vinyl of all shows. What can I say, I’m a huge Lucinda fan and this is a unique opportunity to get a glimpse into her sole while hearing some great tunes played by a fantastic band. Full disclosure - the shows are not live but are pre-recorded.
Just Google Lu’s Jukebox if you’re interested.
Glad there’s a few out there. My brother-in-law was actually her first manager way back in their Austin days. They’re still on good terms and I got to meet her several years ago because of that. The progression she has gone through and her willingness to put herself out there and try new things means I’m always looking forward to whatever is next. Apparently, she opened for Petty some years ago and they formed a deep bond mainly through their southern roots and their love/hate relationships with all that brings with it. Her little interjections and emotions on this first installment takes the production to another level. |
@feldmen4 , maybe in '99? I went to see Tom Petty in June of '99 simply because I wanted to see Lucinda who was opening for him. That would have been back in the Carwheels era, and she wasn't getting a whole lot of love from the the small amount of audience who were seated for the opener, so I went the extra mile. It was a large outdoor ampitheater, but I popped for some great close up seats from a scalper, so I was right up front, and Lucinda and her band knew there was at least one out there who appreciated her. As far as Lu's Jukebox, I think the only one I didn't buy was the Tom Petty (Full Mon Fever?) cover CD (and I still have not got around to listening to Bob's Back Pages). I am not obsessed (like I used to be) with the sound of her voice, but I really did enjoy her covers of Ode To Billy Joe and The Games People Play. BTW, I definitely agree with you about the CJ covers of Sweet Jane (might be the best cover ever imo) and on To Live Is To Fly, I love the way Margo delivers that one slightly altered line, "I'm as soft as glass, and you're a gentleman. . . ." Good choices.
