I used to sell those. At the price, there is nothing to complain about, but my recollection of these is they are a mass market model with low cabinet density, cheesy crossover components, and middling sound quality…and an early generation UniQ driver. Our store at the time also sold ADS and Dahlquist, which the staff generally preferred to the C-line KEFs. Those might be rarer or more expensive, but I’d keep looking.
KEF "Q"uestion
I am considering a pair of KEF C55 speakers listed on the local CL. I did some research and there appears to be a common issue with tweeter failure linked to the ferrofluid used to cool them (it can harden over time). The speakers are in pristine cosmetic condition, but that's all I know about them at this point. Anyone have any advice or recommendations on this speaker model?
