The Phono pre amp is "The gateway" to fabulous vinyl sound. I used the MS Nova for several months and it really shines with $500 cartridges and $1500-$2000 turntables. But when you jump up to the next level ...like spending 5K (JA Michell Gyro SE with Dynavector 20x2L) for a vinyl source, now you need to kick it up a notch to something like a Manley Labs Chinook. Going from a $1200 Nova to a $2500 Chinook was a night and day difference. Seriously, I listen to a lot of Rock and Jazz , I loved what the Manley did so much that I purchased their line stage Pre Amp too! I run this into a McIntosh Mc352 power amp and out to a pair of Dynaudio Contours. All this upgrading has really made my system super sensitive to what ever is placed on the platter. Only real, old, used, original records will do, some very limited new records as well. When I had my Rega P3 and the Dynavector 10X5 that was a really fun setup because it was more forgiving.Going the upgrade ladder is a journey you have to figure out for your self, hope my little story helps.
