+1 @kennyc !
Is it possible to find a good DAC for under $50, 000?
Apparently, the good folks at The Absolute Sound have you covered.

@hilde45 Tom Martin’s a great reviewer..To be fair, how else is he going to talk about this item? Blame the guy who set the price at 50k for his li’l dac box, not Tom on this one.

I appreciate “high value” products: components that “punch above their weight.”
$4K-$5K is about the max I would pay for a DAC. Could I hear the difference between it and a $50K DAC? Probably. But I just cannot justify it to myself. To use an analogy, I can taste the difference among a $12 bottle of wine, a $25 bottle, and a $100 bottle. But I don’t enjoy the $100 bottle enough to be worth the cost. (I’d much rather find a nice $15-$20 bottle, and enjoy it for its taste and its good value.)
And BTW, I’ve had “two buck chuck.” It ain’t very good. |
If you don’t get this bottle of Remy Martin for 150k and wake up with a hangover the next day....you haven’t really lived. (I would have definitely spat in the barrel to make it real special...if i had worked at Remy Moomoo a 100 years ago, something to be aware of) https://caskcartel.com/products/louis-xiii-de-remy-martin-black-pearl-grande-champagne-cognac-1-75l

Skip the DAC. Who needs $50k DAC while $2k player (SACD, FLAC player, streamer) sounds like below. Alex/Wavetouch audio |
