Interconnect with great dynamics and bass slam ,

I recently purchased some Cardas Golden cross sepaker cables. They replaced my Dh Lab Q10s. I replaced the Q10s because i was getting some upper mid freq brightness.
I have Golden Cross interconnects from preamp to amp and from cd player to pre amp. The sound is very smooth and detailed .The bass and mid bass is not as authorative or as tight. The highs are better - more detailed and smooth.
The problem is the sound is almost too smooth the bass is kind of rounded off now .The sound is less dynamic.
My Question is.
Is there an interconnect that could give me back that great bass and dynamics of that i had with the Q10s, without the harshness i was getting. I think i would like to keep the Golden Cross speaker cables and try changing the ICs. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

@ jmcgrogan2, Are you still in construction mode?

Yeah, and I will be for quite a while. I sent son #3 off on Saturday with his new wheels, he starts his new job today. Then I spent the rest of the weekend tearing down the finished basement and moving son #2's bedroom upstairs. I have to pull down a drop ceiling and some lighting fixtures so that the contractors can replace some bad duct work when they replace the furnace.

At least with everyone at work now, I can play some music again. I even have enough time now, as I await for the contractor to drop by again, to spin some vinyl!! It's been a couple of weeks since I got to listen to some Licorice Pizza!! Spinning all sorts of variety. Cannonball Adderly (Jazz), Joni Mitchell (Folk), Robert Cray (Blues - now playing), with Miles Davis (Jazz) on deck. Yeah baby!!!
@ jmcgrogan2, How does The Robert Cray sound?, Its seems that there is so many variations of blues now days!, I like the slow, ripping of the guitar stuff of B.B. king!, cheers!
@ jmcgrogan2, The thing is, we are Targeting a pair of speakers that retail for $60,000.00 that are discontinued!, They are replaced by the much better sounding JBL everest DD 67000, we want the 66000 that we have been keeping up with!, here on the gon!, $25,000.00!, since we are poor!, the new 67000 is $75,000.00,, these are world renowned speakers that are not that popular here in the states yet!, Horns!, I want to go back to my love!, these speakers are the best available for horns, why, LOL!, they do not have the horn honks, colorations, etc..., they are better than the revel salon 2, avalon edilon diamond speakers, these 66000, 67000, speakers are bettering planar, electrostat speakers with slam!, may take a year, maybe two, were gonna get them!, I have to keep my so called guru card!, LOL!
This is the title track to his Strong Persuader LP I was listening to yesterday. That's my favorite LP by him, but I have a few. I also like BB King, John Lee Hooker, Junior Wells, Muddy Waters, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy, Robert Lucas, Albert Collins, just to name a few of my favorite bluesmen.

Here is a song from the most expensive LP I've ever purchased. It was a brand new, sealed MoFi Sound Lab copy that I paid $110 for. It sounds awesome!!!

And damn, This one here is just fun to watch!! LOL!! SRV pimping it out with Johnny Copeland, just a couple of Texas boys jamming the blues!! Check out SRV start to rake at about the 6:50 mark!! Awesome!!
@ jmcgrogan2, you really know how to use a computer!, I listened to all that you put here!, Thats what I am talking about!, thats my kinda blues buddy!, Can I talk you into sending me some thing?, I hate to be such a begger!, cheers!
The Robery Cray Sound is

I Have a Lot of Robert Cray :

Yes sir ree! That's what I'm talkin bout! Gotta love that blues music!

Lately, I been playin all different kinda music so I don't get bored with one genre or another.

Now playing:

The Everly Bros. 57-62
Gil-Scott Heron & Brian Jackson 1980

Bob Marley & the Wailers Positive Vibration
Rolling Stones Exile on Main Street (Keith, you like)
Bob Dylan Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid
Levon Helm American Son
Willie Nelson Stardust
Billy Preston The Kids & Me
Paul Simon Rhythm of the Saints

These are all vinyl copies that sound nice! The McCormack Amp gets better and wax is the preferred format....!

@ jmcgrogan2, you really know how to use a computer!, I listened to all that you put here!, Thats what I am talking about!, thats my kinda blues buddy!, Can I talk you into sending me some thing?, I hate to be such a begger!, cheers!

I think you may have over-rated my computer skills Keith!! LOL!! If you are asking me to send you something like music, I've never ripped anything in my life. I have had friends send me some kool ripped ceedee's, but I don't really know how to rip from my main rig. I probably could copy some youtube audio, but the sound quality wouldn't sound good on a decent stereo system.

I'm sure that someday I will have to combine my computer and audio system, I hear that computer audio is the wave of the future. All that stuff is greek to me now though. I'm still spinning vinyl and listening to tubes!! LOL!!

Just surf on youtube dude! Play a song, find another off the list on the right, and find some good new music!!
@Waxwaves, nice list!! I was feeling some Allman Brothers Band this morning, spun Eat a Peach, Idlewild South and At Fillmore East. Then later on, I started spinning some Doors out of respect for Ray Manzarek. The Doors, Strange Days and Morrison Hotel.

RIP Ray!! Break on through to the other side!!
Hi,I am giving a high, very high quality disc a spinn this morning!, 1994 Korn!, there first cd!,If your system does not sound very real with this recording, You need to change something!, the best mid-range you will ever hear on the snare drums!, This cd rocks!,I was not a korn fan till i heard what it sounds like on a high-end system!, very dimensional!, Awsome to say the least!,musical is an understatement!,This is the way to start the morning!, LOL!, Happy listening!
John, I gotta Japanese audiophile pressing of "Idlewild South" that sounds great, I love it! Digging your selections, btw! God Bless ya Ray Manzarek, may your memory and music live on!
I love the Doors, I mean a whole lot!, I will miss Ray! To me, He is one of the best key boardest ever!long live the music!, Happy listening!

John, I gotta Japanese audiophile pressing of "Idlewild South" that sounds great, I love it! Digging your selections, btw! God Bless ya Ray Manzarek, may your memory and music live on!
well not all of the post got there . What i tried to say is ADAM has the Japanese pressing .. not me
Oh, I am sorry,I gooffed!, what have you been doing?, does your speaker cables sound better now?, they should!, cheers!
Speaker Cables are sounding GREAT. I actually replaced the Coax RCA Interconnects that i was using from Pre-Amp to amp for the Bass section of my L/R speakers with some Cardas Crosslink 2 that i had . I like the sound better now . That bit of Extra fullness that i hade before is now Gone. The other coax sounded a bit slow and fat . The Cardas has hepled that a lot .
Also , the Bass section of my speakers actually receives a Full Range Signal. They are 8 inch Wool/Carbon Woofers. The same Woofer is used for the mids ,except that it has a voicecoil. These are proprietary woofers made for John Sollecito @ Source Technolgy .
I also heard that the company that makes them for him , may have let someone else use them in their speakers , without his permission of course. I beleive that company is Cinepro.
I beleive they use the same Woofers in their Cinepro Evo Mighty Speakers ..
Anyway My System is Sounding better than ever .
OH, Keith , I did switch the Tara speaker cables from the top to the bottom and put the Q!0s on the bottom.
The sound was very similar in the Bass , but the top end was a little harsher with the Q10s on top. I found the Bass to be a little less articulte and just a touch slower than with the Q10s on the bass .The Q10s are just better at bass , but not by a lot . And likewise , the Tara Air1s are better at the mids and the highs . well at least in my system . The Taras are smoother on the top end with a little less emphasis on the mids and especially the highs . Mids and Highs are more forward with the Q10s on top .
SO .I put them all back to their proper location which is where they will stay .
I may be wrong on the other company that uses his wool/carbon design, I had ask him once before , but he would not say for sure.
That is the only other compnay that i could find that uses wool/carbon.
@ grey9hound, Your last two post was very informative!, interesting indeed!, well written!I enjoy your post when you do them like that!, congrats on your Taralabs cables!,, cheers!
Hey gents, I have decided I need to upgrade the power cable that I use with my upgraded amplifier! Looking for suggestions. Now I am using Signal Cable Magic Power and I like the sound of a copper pc with the McCormack amp. But the Signal Cable is a little foggy in the resolution dept. Its a very thin fog, but a fog nevertheless. The LAT AC-2 mkII cables that I use are very good for source components and pre, a bit too hot on top with the amp due to the silver..I think. Now, I am leaning toward Paul Kaplan's least expensive offering. Need a 3 or 4 footer. Suggestions welcome! Have a great Memorial Day weekend!
The Kaplan power cable that I am considering is the H.E. II model. John, are you familiar with this one? Seems like it might be the top "budget" power cable on the market today.

The Kaplan power cable that I am considering is the H.E. II model. John, are you familiar with this one?

Sorry, no, I have not heard any Kaplan power cords or cables. I'm currently running a Acoustic Zen Gargantua II on my CODA amp with good success. Other amp cords that have worked well with amplifiers previously are Elrod EPS-3 Signature and Statement (I currently have a Statement for sale), Fusion Enchanters and Purist Audio Dominus w/ Ferox.

All of those cords are powerful and dynamic with very good to great 3-D soundstaging abilities. The Fusion Enchanter has a tad more high end extension, but at the expensive of some bass weight. The Purist and Elrod cords can drive some serious bass.

As with all cables and cords, some sacrifices must be made at some point. No one product does everything well. You'll have to decide if you want more bass weight or more high end extension.
I'll take bass weight. I have top end extension covered.

Thank you for the informative reply John. Where does the Elrod cable that you have for sale fall into the mix?
I am so glad I know what I want, and getting very soon!, The Taralabs cobalt A/C power cord, retail $5,000.00 a 6ft cord!, that should do the my cd-player very good!, I am going to buy used and try to save as much money as possible!, I have a situation in the works now!, may take me 30 to 45 days, the seller has 6 to 7 of the cords for sale!, He told me He is sure that I may get one unless some one buys all of them at the same time, that would be unusual, however, my friend in L.A. californa sold all his at the same time, so, I will keep my fingers crossed!, My amp leaves on june the 7th, to come back a new one!, cheers!
@Waxwaves, Elrod cords are bargains on today's market. They are older designs, but still sound incredible. In fact I have an Elrod EPS-2 Signature on my Cary SLP-98P preamp. I actually had it on my CDP and the sound was so good that it made me wonder what was wrong with my analog front end. When I figured out it was the power cord, I switched the cord to my preamp, problem solved. Funny thing is, it is my favorite current power cord, but it cost less money than the cord I have on my amp and CDP.

The EPS-2 and 3 Signature were David Elrod entry level cords about a decade ago, listing for $1600. The 2 is for small current devices, preamps, CDP's, etc., while the 3 is for high current applications like the power amp or power conditioner. The Statement line was the top of Elrod's line about a decade ago, listing for $2700. It consisted of the Statement for high current applications and the Statement II for lower current applications. All of these Elrod cords are full-bodied, powerful and dimensional, qualities that I really like.
WARNING: The Statement line is VERY stiff and bulky, the cord I have for sale weighs about 8 pounds!

That said, I prefer these Elrod cords over current cords that sell for $3000 and more. Cords like Nordost Valhalla, Stealth Dream and Purist Audio Canorus, all of which I have owned.

I haven't heard any of the more recent Elrod cords. As with everything else in audio, David has gone way up the price scale. His current cords are selling for $5000 and up.

Here is a couple of reviews.
EPS 2 and 3 Signature AC power cords

Now the positives of the Elrod's: This is by far the best AC cable I have ever had in my system for amplifiers.

Kool! Have you listened to this cord, or are you buying it sound unheard? You'll need to get another one for the Krell when it gets back!! LOL!!
@ jmcgrogan2, I would like to get an a/c cord for the Krell, However, This model series is the only one that is hardwired with this huge, thick stock a/c power cord that could pass for an after market power cord!,Krell did this from 2001 to 2006, most a/c power cords sounded like crap on the Krell amps, so they had a american cable company make and match the amps and hard wired them!, All the other Krell amps before and after have a detachable a/c power cord!, And I have to admit, That Krell was correct with their statement regarding after market power cords!, I tried about 20 different power cords from the cable company in the mid 90s, none of them sounded better than the stock cord!, the price range was up to $2,000.00 for a 6ft power cord that me and a group of friends rented together!, so, I am very skeptical of power cords for a Krell!,, cheers!
Well you are sending the Krell amp in for some maintenance, now would be a good time to have them modify the amp and add a IEC input!!! Comparing power cords from the mid 90's to today's cords is like comparing Tara Labs cables from the mid 90's to today's Tara Labs cables. Cheers!!!
I will start a thread on this, I have not started a thread in a while, my last one got deleted because of that idiot from australia!, I was not at fault at all!, kinda like that hater from a couple weeks back!, You will see the thread, remember, most after market cords do not do as good as the power cord Krell got made for their amps!, They are matched!, The cord that came with my unit is either 10 or 8 gauge!,It looks like a fricken snake!,LOL!, cheers!
I started the thread, look for it in a day or so, It will be under cables!, John, This should be interesting!, like I said, Krell had made a very good power cord for this model amp I have, I hope I can use a cobalt on a krell 700cx with an over the top improved sound!, I doubt it can happen!, cheers!
@ jmcgogan2, LOL!, My carol stock power cord says 10/3 600 volts!, I do not believe a 20 amp power cord will work?, Do you?, LOL! My Krell might melt a cobalt!, Then I would really be pissed off!cheers!
If the Krell is not melting the wires inside your walls, it will not melt a Cobalt!! LOL!!
@ jmcgogan2, My dedicated line that I installed is made for 220!, Its a 3/10 wire as well as the Krells, none of this will melt!, The power cord that came on the krell is made for 220 and 110, Krell told me this a couple of months back, they said they can switch the amps software to run on 220!, and another cord would not be neccesary., I am tring to get them on the phone now, hard to get thru sometimes. cheers!
@ jmcgrogan2, Bad news john, Talked to Ray the current service manager at Krell, He confirmed everthing I have been saying about this useing an after market a/c power cord, My thread is up and running now, we will see what the gonners say about the idea,, any way, Ray said Krell does not reccomend the use of an after market cord and will not warranty the work they will perform on my amp if I use one!, Ray said, The carrol cord was made specifically for the Krell 700 cx!, I do not know what to say john, maybe sombody out there has a success story doing this, that might come on the thread!, cheers!
@Audiolab, of course Krell will not recommend after-market cords. Most equipment manufacturers will tell you that cables and cords don't matter....they want you to spend more money on their gear, not cables and cords!! I'm sure the manufacturers of your JBL speakers would tell you that Home Depot 10 gauge wire is fine speaker cable for your speakers.

Hey, I'm not gonna push you, like you pushed me...hehehe. If you want to use the stock cord, use the stock cord. Whatever floats your boat. Cheers!!
@ jmcgrogan2, If I knew the cobalt would sound good on the Krell 7oocx and worked to good effect,I would do the up-grade with no hesatation!, I would like to see if eany body comments on the issue on the thread I started., As A matter of fact, I am going to change my breaker out from a 20 amp to 25 amp breaker, Krell told me that the 20 amp was restricting my current of my amp, and that a 25 amp would make my krell 700cx run alot smoother and run cooler!,and still small enough to flip if a problem occurs.cheers!
@ Grey9hound, What are you up to?, Kinda quite!, Since you are in knoxsville, have you been keeping up with Danielle Bradberry of the voice show?, I know she is fron Texas, she still sings great!, cheers!

@ Grey9hound, What are you up to?, Kinda quite!, Since you are in knoxsville, have you been keeping up with Danielle Bradberry of the voice show?, I know she is fron Texas, she still sings great!, cheers!
I have not been doing much. No , I do not keep up with The Voice or any of those others shows like that .
When i watch TV it is The Science Channel , History or ones like those . I do NOT watch regular broadcast TV at all.
My Favorite shows are on the channles i mentioned. I especillay like "The Planets" and "Acient Aliens" is one of definatley one of my Favorites.
I am Very happy with my setup now . Those Tra Labs Air 1 speaker cables have come in to their own. Since i Replaced the bass interconnect fron the Rg6 from monoprice with the Cardas Crosslinks ,the sound is much improved . The Bass is much better difined ann not so fat and Slow sounding.
Until i did this i had forgotten that i had spoken to John Sollecito from Source Technology Speakers , and i remembered that he told me that my bass modules in my spekars actually receive a Full Range signal. So thats why they sound better now . Those Rg6 interconnects i was using are too bass fat and slow sounding . I really do not know what they would be good for. The tracsh can is the best for them i think .
Adam had come trough town last weekend and offered up hid McCormack .05 for my audition , but i had to respectfully decline as i had a lot going on and i owuld have had to take out my other LPA-1 just to tyr thte McCormack.
I actually am using 2 LPa-1s .The top one for my Rear speakers and my outdoor and Center channel speakers. I am also Bi-amping the Center. So a total of 5 Cahnnels on the top one and The bottom one i am using for the Mains (4 Channels ). I am very happy with the Tara Speaker Cables . They are slighly rolled off on top , which is why they work well for me .You know those budget Solid State amps are are little Sharp or Hard on the highs . The Tara
Air1s are perfect for that .
Thanks for all of you persuasion on those.
Hey anybody want to come jump in the POOOL .Its OPen !
New Diving Board . Still need to fix the A/C in my Car, but since i bought the Taras the A/C in my car will have to wait . LOL !! True though !
Damn. I Can't type for SHI++T.
I never took typing in high school, That was for Sissies. I am rgretting that now.LOL!
@ grey9hound, Did you get to meet Adam?, Broadcast t.v. is what I have!, We do not want to spend money on something like a t.v. service! Our audio hobby takes so much money!, The krell leaves this friday!, see why we do no t.v. service,LOL!, I am glad to hear from you!congrats on the taralabs cables working for you!I bet your system sounds sweet! we hate reality shows too, however, we like the voice because they have real singing talent on the show at times! You bought another LpA-1?, I always thought you had one amp!, cheers!
Typing class was for sissies, I don't care who you are. That's why we created secrataries. It was torute(in more ways than one), BUT typing class did come in handy later in life. The gal that used sit next to me in typing class was real cute and she could type 98 words a minute! So, I wasn't paying full on attention to my typing(especially when she wore a skirt) and on top of that I felt like an idiot(for being so slow and having to look down at keys all the time). I'm still not using proper typing technique and staring at good looking women in skirts, but I do have a handle on the grammar, hehe!

Yeah, Dennis is a cool dude! I talked to him on the phone for a bit. Memorial Day weekend is a busy family time for both of us, so we just couldn't get together. Probably some time in the near future tho. We did discover that we are both big fans of a good Bloody Mary! That ZingZang is good stuff!! Yeah, I was exited for Dennis to try out the McCormack amp in his system, but there was going to have to be partial system break down and reconstruction for this to happen. That's way too much to do on MDW!

Dennis, I also have some Discovery Signature and Essence ics you may like to try out!

Has anyone been watching "Live From Daryl's House"? I really enjoyed the episodes with Smokey Robinson, Todd Rundgren, Nick Waterhouse, and Booker T among others! There's some interesting history involving the houses that are "Daryl's House", where the show is filmed most of the time. Still pretty cheesy, but some good tunes make it worth checking out.

Keith, will you be needing a good amp while the BIG Krell is getting it's oil changed?!? Did the folks at Krell tell you how long it would take?? Cheers! Dudes have a Budice and a Bloody for me, and a great weekend too!

I caught one episode and thought it was cool. I thought i set my DVR to record them , But I must have just thought that i should ,and ended up forgetting to . I'll have to DVR some of those. i had to look up Who the hell was Darryl
LOL! I didn't know , even after watching one episode . I guess i was never a big fan of him and the other guy JOHN.
Adam,Lets try to get together and drink a Bloody Mary sometime ,
