How much $ in used gear streaming to beat $5000 CD player

Lumin U1 mini streamer ($2K new) + a DAC of your choice should exceed the sound quality of your cdp.  I enjoyed my time with a Luxman DA06 DAC ($2.3K used), but there are many others in that price range that should work for you.

A high-performance DAC at around 2.5k new (i.e. less used) & a good streamer (see above) will do teh job. Indeed, your CDs will sound better as well! Use the Oppo as a transport.

Here is a thought.  Use the 105 to play burned CDs to a HD, using the Network function of the 105.  Presumably you are very happy with its sound, since all that you are seeking is to “equal” it.  All you then need do is invest in a hard drive and a CD ripper.  If you want to start playing with Internet Radio and streaming services, the Oppo doesn’t have that capability, but if your goal is primarily listen to your CDs, you don’t need to add a new component

A ripped Cd using a good quality server convinced me to stop using transports all together . A streaming demonstration and local storage took a lot of $$$ IE J-Cat streamer,  switch package ect to equal sound quality of local storage.

Of course there are the die hard users of players and transports that will hang on to their beloved component.

Used Innuos Zen Mk3 server/streamer and AudioMirror Tubadour Mklll SE DAC should run under $5k and sound fantastic.  You can load all your CDs directly into the Zen so no messing with external drives, computers, etc. and no more need for a transport.  Best of luck. 

Audio Mirror looks very interesting, soix do you have the upgraded version or stock. Is it possible to buy a dac first and run a computer into dac and achieve good sound or is a streamer dac combo a must out the gate. 

Paulcreed Soix suggestion will astound you , imagine a huge music library with a touch of a finger on your iPad , phone ect including worldwide internet FM, no computer skills required. 

Innuos servers / streamers are one of the very best sound quality on the market today including AudioMirrors SE dac this would certainly be a fabulous choice .

Paul - the benefits of bypassing the Computer and going straight to the purchase of the streamer (Innuos) in combo is where a lot of magic happens. Far more musical!

I don’t have the Tubadour but given the reviews it’s a solid bet. You can obviously start stock and upgrade to SE later for a significant improvement if that works better for budget reasons. I personally hate dealing with computers and will never use one as a source so a streamer would be mandatory for me, but good sound is certainly possible through a computer if you have the knowledge and/or patience. A used Zen Mk3 and a new Toubadour SE would be about $5k, so if that’s your budget I’d just bite the bullet and solve everything at once. You’ll be thrilled, and life’s too short.
