Has anyone tried these stunning new CPT power cord?
Considering the many, many brands of power cords I've tried in my very well accomplished high-end system, I have never been so impacted by these Core Power Technology power cords. Within a very short period(15-20) minutes my system literally came alive. Soundstage opened wider and deeper. The background became dead silent, space between instruments and stage members were more focused and everything sounded cleaner and musical than ever. My highs had a glorious crispness and symbols shimmered. Midrange through my 2" horn became more dynamic and punchy. My 15" bass driver tightened and dug low with great control. My Rel G1 which is a fabulous sub on its own but with a CPT 150 on it is another story. Running high pass from my sub to my Audiozen Noah amplifier, music depth is just stunning. Lower end bass is authoritative and clean with solid grip and impact. My experience with these power cords is truly magical. The scary part of the above is I only have one 150 on my sub and one 300 from my wall to my 6 outlet bar. I still need 3 more to complete my system. I could just imagine the level after that...In closing, I cannot emphasize enough to try one of these in your system. I CANNOT and WIIL NOT take these out as they are that good. But hold your jaw, cuz what you've been listening to will just become real after Core Power Technologies.
A
bit late to the game, but I’d like to add my own two cents (well, maybe a
nickel).
Having
spent 15 years (give or take) as a reviewer and audio magazine Editor, I was
fortunate in being able to audition – often in my own system – a wide variety
of audio gear, including power cables. Like many audiophiles, I found
that power cords sound different from one another (or more accurately, make the
equipment to which they are connected sound different), and that the careful
selection of a power cord(s) could make my system more to my liking.
Last
year Mark contacted me and said that he wanted to stop by so I could hear his
new EQUI=CORE “fully balanced AC power sources.” I had
some familiarity with balanced power, and knew that it could dramatically
improve a system; however, I also knew that most balanced power systems were
quite expensive, usually in the neighborhood of $5000 and up. I was thus
more than a bit skeptical when Mark told me how relatively inexpensive his
products were.
I
try to always keep an open mind (though some might say it is an empty head-!),
so I agreed to give it a try. I decided to begin at the source, which was
(and still is) an EMM Labs DAC2x. Though not to everyone’s taste (nothing
is), I think most would agree that the DAC 2x is a pretty fine piece of
equipment, and I used it with a power cord (a VERY pricey one, at that) that I
felt optimized its performance.
You
probably know where this is going: To my considerable surprise, the EQUI=CORE
trounced my reference power cord. As this is by no means a formal review,
I will keep it short and sweet: With the EQUI=CORE in the system, the noise
floor was considerably lower, resolution was enhanced without any apparent
frequency anomalies, and most saliently, the system sounded more natural.
I have since tried the EQUI=CORE with other components in my system, and the
effect has been consistent. This products amazes me when I consider its price
and pure value for money play.
As
coincidence would have it, around the time of Mark’s visit, I was about to
embark on a career change. After 17 years in the field of pharmaceutical and
biotechnology patent law, I was starting a home-based audio retail
business. Mark agreed to allow me to be a dealer for his EQUI-CORE line
of products, which (not surprisingly) is what brought me to this thread.
To
simply introduce myself, I am Larry Borden and I am located in northern NJ,
30-45 minutes from Manhattan, Westchester, Connecticut, Rockland County, and of
course northern and central New Jersey. If anyone is interested in
demoing or chatting further with me about EQUI=CORE, please feel free to
contact me here, or through my Distinctive Stereo web site.
I’m
really happy to have found this thread and to find so many satisfied users.
This is a great product and one that needs more exposure for sure.
I improved the sound of the CPT 300 by setting the box unit on four 1 1/2" Star Sound brass Audio Points. I just thought I'd through that out there, I'm sure there are other tweaks what would work also. BTW: all power cords and speaker cables are elevated off the floor and I believe that also adds to a blacker background.

@rshad0000, so glad to hear what the CPT 300 did for your system. It is rather amazing what we were used to listening to before these cords go into our systems and the huge transformation they make....as you add more with your components it just gets deeper/wider/quieter/blacker/livelier...etc..........
After reading through this discussion and all of the praise for the CPT, I thought I would give one a shot. Honestly I did not think it would do much for my system. I already had a Shunyata Anaconda, Shunyata Hydra 6 as well as Triode Wire Lab cables throughout, but thought that maybe running a CPT in to my Hydra 6 may help.
After contacting Mark I had him help me out on what size CPT I needed to plug in to the Hydra 6 to run my front end(Ayre KX-5 Twenty Preamp, Oppo105, Classe SSP800, DirecTV and Xbox one). He was incredibly helpful and even responded back to my emails on Sunday, even though I insisted it was fine to get back to me on Monday. We settled on the CPT300, which I received a week later.
Right out of the box I really did not expect to hear much a difference and, even if I ever did, the differences would be very subtle. All I can say is, "WOW". Seriously, everyone is right when they say that the backgrounds are blacker and you are able to hear things you have not heard before. After listening to the same songs probably hundreds of times before I was surprised to hear new things and a real separation between the instruments. What everyone has not mentioned is how much deeper the soundstage became. At least on my system it became much more 3D than it has ever been.
I did not believe a powercord could make that much of a difference, but I was wrong. Very happy!
update...the CPT-300 continues to tighten up. very tight and quick.Sound more articulate now.Definitely a keeper. Already better than the CT-1 it replaced.
@devilboy Interesting observation and I don't doubt what you say for a second. I have a CPT 300 powering a Blue Circle FX2 XOe6 AC Line Filter (a sophisticated six way power outlet). I run my transport, Dac and FM (tube) tuner from it. Using CD's that I have used for years and know very well for comparisons regarding different audio equipment, I have heard a few details in the music that I've never heard before. Was a real shocker to me in a good way!
@corepowertech, Yes Mark, it was great chatting with you again as well. I'm glad the show went well for you. From what I'm hearing at home with the CPT 150, you deserve it!
Speaking about what I'm hearing at home, this afternoon I told Mark about something I heard while the CPT 150 was on my amplifier. I was listening to a violin concerto and about 4 seconds before The Soloist finished her solo, the orchestra lifted their instruments up to begin playing again. I actually heard the sound of the sleeves of tuxedos slide up their arms. I listen to live classical at Kimmel Center in Philadelphia regularly. Anyone who hears live classical will tell you there is that moment when the orchestra lifts their instruments in unison, and it's completely audible from the seats. I just never heard it through my system before.
Wonderful chatting with you today - thanks for the time you took and for your information re your system and how you tested. Great stuff - and I very much appreciated the information re your tests and the specific results you obtained in that one instance. I believe my idea will work very well for you. Thank You - and of course really glad that you are enjoying your CPT E=C. Thank you for the support...
@devilboy
As well - thanks for all of the time today. Your enthusiasm was awesome and I'm glad to know you. I can't wait to hear what you think when you try your test E=C unit on your Plasma. The results here were STUNNING. I really appreciated the big-time kudos for our products. Your explanation re the Classical piece was incredible - thank you for that...
I was able to share with some of you the results from THE Show Newport - exhibitors that didn't know of the product sure do now - and it was fun.
@bugredmachine
Actually there is one very large transformer made in a particular way in these cords. As many have said - the E=C is MUCH LARGER thhan expected and that's because these are very big boys. Over one year of testing and prototyping and 11 distinctive attempts - we finally got EXACTLY what we wanted and the results are proving out. These are VERY Low Noise and wound in a particular fashion. Maybe at some point I would be tempted to say more - but for now that's about as far as I can go.
Lak & Jmcgrogan2, Thanks for the response. I concluded so too but then got confused as you used "power strip" in a paragraph before mentioning the HF "power distributor" in another paragraph.
@4orreal; Jmcgrogan2 stated my comment correctly, thanks John :-)
I used the CPT 300 on my "HF MC-6 Power Distributor" in my main system. That system uses a full loom of HF products of various mid to higher level products. The CPT 300 sounded darn GOOD on the MC-6 Power Distributor!
The beauty really came in my secondary system when I plugged the CPT 300 into my Integrated 300B amp and/or my power strip (Blue Circle FX2 XOe6 Line Filter).
See my post to Devilboy, from 10:14 AM today 6/9/2016.
Lak, Did you try both the
CPT 300
and the HF CT-1 Ultimate Reference Helix power cables on the HF MC-6 power distributor? I guess I am curious how the CPT sound on the HF power distributer.
It would be interesting if CPT ever came out with a REFERENCE cord at say $1000 and it was even better than their current cord. I not saying that will ever happen but when you start comparing a $800 power cord to a $13000 power cord; that certainly does say something about the "law of diminishing returns". Glad to hear you like the CPT cord.
@Lak, that is a pretty pricey "TAD" improvement at $13,000. I do think Core Power Technologies should be proud of contending with something at 13x the price if even better sounding in other systems. Other experiences may differ too as all system are different but I don't think most would settle for the $12,000 difference.
Hey Mark of Core; aren't these balanced transformers in-line in the power cords? Are you implementing this topology differently than the others before you and that is why the initial customers are getting good results? I'm curious if users here have never tried balanced transformers and they are now experiencing that versus whether you are implementing it differently and "better". Not an easy question to address, I know.
Very nice job of describing the improvements you heard with the CPT 150. I agree 100%.
I received my CPT 300 and had it on my cable burner for 300 hours before I inserted it into my system. I had it on my Plinius SA Reference amp and it sounded good, but no improvement over my CT GE high current power cord.
I moved the CPT 300 into my secondary system and put it on my Allnic T-1500 Integrated 300B amp...WOW!!! I would describe the music exactly the same way you did Devilboy, it's as if we were listening to the same music in the same room.
Lastly, I attached the CPT 300 to a power strip in my secondary system and powered my Transport, Dac, and FM tuner and BOOM!...same great results.
I'm very happy with the improvements.
The only way I was able to better the CPT 300 on the power strip in my main system, was by using my HF CT-1 Ultimate Reference Helix power cable on the power strip (HF MC-6 power distributor), which did sound a tad better. Do the math ;-)!
@bacardi, for the time being, the 150 is currently on a Job INTegrated (i also plan to put a 300 on my plasma). I have on order, a Decware Zen Torri Jr. from Steve Deckert. My 150 will power that amp when it arrives.......in 3 months. Ugghh.
I’ll probably get one for my DAC as well. So far the 150 has a lower noise floor than the HiDiamond P3 it replaced. Same is true for the Synergistic Research Element Tungsten before that which was on my Job 225 amp. Because of the black backgrounds, the CPT 150 has more decay and extension than the other cords. Everything sounds more pronounced, cleaner and CLEARER. I can hear "deeper" into recordings. On full scale classical, there is less congestion. Meaning on complex orchestral passages, it doesn’t sound like one big unfocused mess. It’s more coherant, like you focused a lens on a camera. Not even close to the 100 hour mark yet either. I am a happy boy.
Yes, Good for you and congratulations. Glad it went well. I've had my 150 for over a week and to say the results are great so far is an understatement. I will post my opinion on the cord once it has fully broken in.
Nice to hear Mark. I'm glad Core Power Technologies is taking off. IMO they are the best I've heard with my system to date....I think they do extremely well against cords $5000 and up without a sweat.....
Wanted to thank the MANY of you that came to the rooms where we had Core Power at THE Show Newport. I got a chance to meet many of you "lurkers" and I really enjoyed chatting with you guys.
INCREDIBLE show for us - people were really pleased with our sound and products. We sold a "small ton" of units and it was lots of fun.
pennsy, and all, click the power=core button here; http://www.corepowertechnologies.com/home and you will see Mark has a regenerator coming at $999 introductory pricing. It's only 300 watts, but they have 2 amps and a front end running on one prototype.
My apologies. You haven't tried them. So you can't really compare the two without trying a CPT. It did have outstanding qualities against a High Fidelity CT-1 that's three times the price and the CPT only had 50 hours which I would say is 1/4 to full potential....try a CPT - 150 or 300 and see for yourself.....your jaw will hit the floor.....
@yping , this thread discussion is about CPT power cords and comparisons of other used brands. Unless you haven't tried them, don't advertise other company's with no comparing. You were asked if you've tried them and you haven't returned with an answer. To us that's a no. You can start your own thread...thx.
@pennsy, isn't the P10 around $5000-6000. Two or three CPT 300 powercords are half the price and isolate independent components...your statement to me is untrue....just my calculations.
Gentlemen, instead of quoting names and prices of outrages power cords, what is it these cords are actually doing! Well by definition they remove electrical impurities introduced by a power plant! Ok, why not invest in a power regenerator like ps Audio p10 ! Regenerator power plants break down wall electricity and regenerate it mostly free of impurities causing signal decline! Hook all units to it! Whole system gets pure electricity for a whole lot less money!! My thoughts!
No, I haven’t tried the CPT but I am currently using/trying the KLEI gPOWER AC Cable and it is excellent and it is definitely a keeper ... have a look, http://totallywired.co.nz/klei_gpower2_ac.html
We have tried the CPT cords with several conditioners including the Audience. My preference has been straight to the wall but a good passive conditioner also works great with the CPT cords. We will be trying the Acoustic Revive passive conditioner in the near future with the CPT cords.
My understanding is the 1200 and 1800 will be ready mid June to the end of June, somewhere in that time frame.
Mark, any chance the 1200 or 1800 version comes with Furutech GTX-D(r) sockets as an option? I had good experience with balanced power (BPT) in the past.
Anyone tried the CPT in combination with an Audience adept Response unit?
I would like to read more review about these PC. Those whom own feel free to write about your findings. Please compare to other PC that you guys have had in your systems previously.
