Has anyone tried these stunning new CPT power cord?
Considering the many, many brands of power cords I've tried in my very well accomplished high-end system, I have never been so impacted by these Core Power Technology power cords. Within a very short period(15-20) minutes my system literally came alive. Soundstage opened wider and deeper. The background became dead silent, space between instruments and stage members were more focused and everything sounded cleaner and musical than ever. My highs had a glorious crispness and symbols shimmered. Midrange through my 2" horn became more dynamic and punchy. My 15" bass driver tightened and dug low with great control. My Rel G1 which is a fabulous sub on its own but with a CPT 150 on it is another story. Running high pass from my sub to my Audiozen Noah amplifier, music depth is just stunning. Lower end bass is authoritative and clean with solid grip and impact. My experience with these power cords is truly magical. The scary part of the above is I only have one 150 on my sub and one 300 from my wall to my 6 outlet bar. I still need 3 more to complete my system. I could just imagine the level after that...In closing, I cannot emphasize enough to try one of these in your system. I CANNOT and WIIL NOT take these out as they are that good. But hold your jaw, cuz what you've been listening to will just become real after Core Power Technologies.
Received my 1800 the other day and am burning it in as we speak. I already have a smaller 500 watt balanced power transformer (not from CPT) in my system so I very familiar with how much of an impact balanced power can have on the system. Right out of the box the 1800 seemed to have a little more of everything that I had in my old transformer so I am excited to see what it sounds like after I have burned it in for a good week.
That said, this was the most frustrating customer experience I have ever had in the audiophile world. I paid Mark for the 1800 back in July and was told at the time it would ship very soon. After a least 4 other promises via text and email that it was shipping in the next day or two I finally spoke with Mark on the phone. Mark told me the label was being printed out and it would ship the next day. Well it never did ship and over the next month I was told via texts that it HAD shipped that day or the day prior no less than 6 times. Last week it finally did get shipped but only after I requested a refund, and even then it shipped twice before it actually shipped.
Sorry for the rant, the product itself seems to be very good but I really had my patience tested with this purchase.
The transformer in my CPT 300 has just stopped working. Also the breaker shattered in a million pieces. So I don't know if the breaker blew the transformer or vise a versa. Please advise ASAP.
P.S. I sent a email and just left a voice mail message.
It turns out the problem was only the breaker. I was able to jump the breaker and everything works. What screwed me up was that I forgot that you can't check the connections with one of those circuit testers because the balanced transformer will show as no ground connection.
I'm glad you and Lynn built and shipped a bunch of units this week, in difficult conditions and parts inventory not nearby, thanks for your dedication. I'm very relieved to hear your health has taken a turn for the better, looking forward to seeing you at RMAF.
It will be great to finally being in the house this coming week. Doing this out of a hotel room has not been easy for Lynn or myself --- especially with the RMAF here and percolating...
I have s question ,I have the core power 1800, I bought the regular power cords From Mark and they better cables I have compared over $300, I paid around $100 My question if I put in the power cord with transformer built in then plug into the 1800. Is it a $$ diminishing return ? Or full impact like plugging into a power strip Anyone that has done this please share your thoughts .Thsnks much.
@audioman58 I need some tutoring regarding: "My question if I put in the power cord with a transformer built in then plug into the 1800". What is a power cord with a built-in transformer? Is there a website with a picture so I can understand this concept? Thanks...
I have the core power 1800watt block. All their smaller power cords have a small isolation transformer built in . My question was how much additional benifit,if any if I use their expensive transformer- power cord , plugged into their 1800 watt power transformer station. Will it be huge ,or minimal sonic improvement ?
@audioman58, Sorry, I did not initially understand your question, I guess I was not thinking clearly this morning!
I tried my CPT-300 power cord feeding my 1800 and in my opinion, I did not hear any improvement. It did not matter if the CPT-300 fed my 1800 or if the CPT-300 came out of the 1800 going to a component, in my opinion, I did not hear any improvement either way.
I would recommend using any larger (12 gauge or larger) power cord of your choice to feed the 1800. Also from your 1800 to other components use a power cord made for an amp or front-end components.
Feel free to message me if you want my recommendations on power cords.
I do like the CPT-300 from the wall directly to a component and or a power strip.
Hello thanks much Lak. Verastarr has a New PC line a bit less expensive but outstanding totally unconventional . Check them out if willing to check out different approach with satisfaction policy.
I got in touch with Mark and have a Deep Core update, DCs are being made right now, because it's the first production run they are going slowly and carefully to avoid any mistakes, every unit will be tested before leaving, CPT appreciates the enormous patience DC buyers have shown, Mark expects shipments of DCs by the last week in October. Your long wait and understanding of Mark's health and location situations will be rewarded soon.
Mark has been saying they are going to be ready 'next week' for 2 months. He needs to be brutally honest with customers and those who have already sent him money and stop making excuses for the DCs NOT be delivered long before this. Honesty is appreciated...excuses are not..

Did a real Alpha or Beta process ever happen?

I would say take this as a lesson. DO NOT send money for unreleased products, if you're not willing to accept delays. Sh*t happens with preproduction products. I would rather wait to have a working product, rather than a broken or buggy product on the earliest announced release date.
Mark will have time tomorrow to post news, and updates on E=Q and Deep Core production. Once again your patience is greatly appreciated, let's wait and see what news Mark has, I think it's good.
IMO: Alpha testing took place the first week of May 2017.
Alpha Tests Beta Tests Test Goals Evaluate the quality of the product and ensure Beta readiness. These tests focus on finding bugs, and answer the question: Does the product work? Evaluate customer satisfaction and ensure release readiness. These tests take users on a guided tour of the product to answer the question: Do customers like the product? When they happen After initial QA testing but before Beta Testing, in the stage of the development process when the product is 60%-80% complete (it’s stable enough for technical users, but not yet feature complete). After Alpha Testing but before Field Testing, in the stage of the development process when the product is 80%-90% complete (it’s stable enough for mainstream users, and mostly feature-complete). Test length Typically 1-2 weeks per test cycle with numerous cycles based on how many issues are discovered and how many new features are released. It’s not uncommon for the total Alpha phase to be 3-5x the length of the following Beta phase. Usually 3-6 weeks per test cycle with only 1-2 cycles. Additional cycles are added if significant new features are introduced or if a core component is changed. Primary stakeholders Engineering, Quality Assurance (QA), and Product Management teams. User Experience (UX), Quality Management, and Product Management teams. Participants (testers) Strangers from a variety of targeted technical environments, who can handle giving technical feedback during the test. Involving employees in this stage of testing (a.k.a. dogfooding) helps improve internal alignment and prepare your teams for live-support after launch. Strangers (not friends and family) from your product’s target market. They’ll provide objective insights on the product experience that are relevant to the product’s success and help you better understand your true customers. What testers should expect A product with plenty of bugs and crashes, as well as some missing documents and features. A near feature-complete product with some bugs, fewer crashes, and mostly complete documentation. How feedback is addressed Most known critical and severe issues are fixed, and some features may change or be added as a result of early feedback. Critical or important issues are fixed, and simple user experience improvements are made before product launch. Future versions of the product are heavily influenced by the results. What they achieve Identification of critical issues that cannot be tested in the lab, and insurance of your Betas by addressing show-stopping bugs that would otherwise cripple those tests. They also improve internal alignment and launch-readiness of customer-facing teams. Improvement of launch success by providing evidence-based recommendations for product improvements and a complete view of your customers’ experience with your product. When are they over? A product is Beta-ready when it meets design criteria, all of its primary features work, and Alpha testers are no longer finding critical or blocking issues. A product is Field-ready when mainstream users from your target market are comfortable with the user interface, and are satisfied with their experiences with the product and its features. What happens next? Beta Testing! Field Testing!
@t_ramey As far as I know, ozzy and I were beta testers for the Deep Core. There could have been other beta testers that I’m not aware of?
lak2,479 posts05-02-2017 3:00pm@calloway, UPS just this minute delivered a Deep Core beta unit to me. L=8" x W=8" H= 4". Weight 6 1/2 pounds.
lak2,479 posts04-19-2017 6:41pmI’m still patiently waiting to beta-test Deep Core...lak2,479 posts05-03-2017 1:09pmUPS was unkind to the D.C., and I’m waiting for a replacement :-( lak2,479 posts05-21-2017 3:19pmThose are all really good questions, I wish I could answer a few of them however when I returned the beta Deep Core unit because it arrived damaged (UPS), I never had an opportunity to audition it. I’m still waiting for another unit to beta test. I do know that the Deep Core can be used with the 1200, 1800, or directly connected to one or two of your components. As was mentioned Mark will have all the correct answers.
lak2,479 posts05-28-2017 9:00amStill waiting for the return of the replacement Deep Core also.
@t_ramsey: I never had an opportunity to test the Deep Core. Although I had it in my hands it arrived damaged and I returned it to Mark (early May 2017 and am still waiting for a replacement. I don’t want to speak for ozzy however as I understand it he had to return his unit also and was not able to audition it. This is all part of and a reason for beta testing.
lak..so if you and ozzy were 'beta testers' in May and sent ,at least your DC back, then it's possible that no beta testing has been done...Certainly Mark would have sent your, non-destroyed, DC back to you so you could begin 'beta testing'.I was told that '3 people had DCs and would not give them back' in at least 2 of my communications with Mark in the last 2 months, the first communication at least 2 months ago.So...again...there is a possibility that there hasn't been any beta testing so far and the possibility that the first DCs that buyers will get may be ..still...months away.Mark.
Lots of goings on at Core Power Tech and with my family. I
think it’s a good idea just to update (thank you Kemper) and just give all of
you a view of our world as it exists today.
Core Power started as an attempt to do all we could to wring
out my experiences in AUDIO – and what I had learned about Power from many of
the masters. It’s been a wonderful two (next month) but much went into Core
Power before we shipping unit 1.
I learned from my experiences at Genesis, Audio Alchemy –
Perpetual Tech and others what goes into making a product that stands the test
of time. I’ve had a few of those – and I’ve also had colossal blunders with products
that almost cost me everything. We have a top loading transport that made
everyone’s Class A list, but this product was impossible to build and
replicate. It was a great idea gone bad – I’ve has my share of that.
Instead, we waited 14 months to ship Unit One of the first
EQUI-CORES. That study paid off and in total we are well in excess of 770 units
now with one shipping failure, three units failures and two returns in all this
time.
In the case of the Deep Core I work with three guys I call
My Rabbis and Priests. They are the heart and soul of the Alpha Team. They have
all been using DEEP CORE for more than 11 months now. I went Pre-Beta with
these guys to very Standing Ovations. One went as far as to say that this will
change Audio. I think he’s right.
I owe 9 of you final Beta Units (one of you is in fact
getting two units for his system needs) and these people will all get theirs
first. We had some hiccups along the way – but we are processing 65 units now.
Peter had asked me to listen one last time – I’m glad I did this.
The original design had 3 MOV-like (Metal Oxide Varistors)
in a Cascaded Array. MOVs are truly bad for the music but Doug’s new way of
using them seemed to work just fine ---- unit I got curious and decided to
jumper-in this array (thereby taking them out) and listen again…………… HOLY CRAP…
huge and very positive change. We listen – we listen some more ---- and then we
don’t begin anything until until WE LISTEN AGAIN.
Glad I did – DEEP CORE is going to change the Audio World
along with our new newer product called Ground ZERO. Shocking stuff actually. I’m
used to the market pressure stuff and to the posts where I’m called out for
this and that. I tend to talk about the products and get myself in trouble –
but that’s just me. I’m sorry… (maybe I’m not sorry)… 😊
I’ve also been held up due the house situation. By the time
we move in November 1st Lynn and I will have not lived in our own
house for 105 days (process on THAT) … We had one house ready to go that we
waited a complete build on but the Lender did not practice fair tactics and
after waiting near to 80 extra days we finally told them to stick it.
Instead we decided to build our final home and we rented The
Perfect House for the next 15 months – still in Broomfield, CO. This house has
near to 7000 square feet as nearly half of the house will be used for 4 Sound
Rooms to showcase products that I believe are EXTRAORDINARY. Many of you buy
from Underwood Wally but most of you don’t know that he bought that business
from ME as The Graham Company (Graham being my prized Chocolate Lab Boy) … he
later changed it to Underwood Hifi.
This house will be a home where anyone can come by and
listen all day long. I will have CPT Products along with speakers from a “few companies”
… most of you know I have designed and built ALL the Emerald Physics products
for the last 6 years. This has come to an end due to many factors but 90 +
percent due to my failing health (another big issue I’ve had to face up to) …
I’m getting better, but Parkinson’s is no walk in the park
and these hemiplegic migraines stopped me cold in September. Look it up if you
care to… it scared me mindless. I was so scared that I considered throwing in
the towel. BUT – when the going gets bad… we just have to muster up the mojo to
move on and get with it.
My granddaughter is going to help the business and two of my
Grandsons. Lynn is very happy about this. Peter Madnick (Constellation Audio,
Audio Alchemy and ELAC) will produce DEEP CORE and Ground Zero. We have what it
takes and by Jan 1, 2018 we will be shipping products from stock.
The 26 of you that waited abnormal time to receive your CPT
Product(s) will have receive a SERIOUS COUPON for DEEP CORE at a price that will
stun you into a smile. We have 6 DEEP CORES Paid For and these will go first of
course.
My apologies for the unevenness of the last 3 months – we expected
to be in our new home in 18 days – this will finally end at 105. My apologies –
Although not wanting to say much more – I’ll close this post
with mentioning that closing Emerald Office here took over 120 days with more
than 70 pallets sent to Texas, California, and Tennessee. Not much more to add
to that fact. This slowed us to a crawl… but now it’s time for Core Power and
my new Line of speakers called a2. Come on over and listen after the 5th
or so of November – THIS YEAR lol.
Best to you all,
Mark
BTW – I will come back tomorrow after I get my computer back…
PS – special apologies to our 220v guys who have waited a
stupid amount of time for their units – and that goes for our Canadian
Distributor as well… very special gifts for these people.
PPS – going to apologize now to those that will offer
comments as to how this message should not be posted here – to them I say I’m
sorry…
Whew! That’s a lot going on even for a healthy person to endure. Congrats Mark on what sounds like a promising future for CPT. I sent you an email regarding my new address for when you’re ready to ship the DEEP CORE, definitely looking forward to it!
Being associated to our industry (by your position in it) you have a wonderful and unique perspective. Our Beta + team and mentioned above will of course get their units when the paid for guys go as well. There are 6 paid for units that will go first and we look forward to the comments of the Beta + team to verify our own findings...
PS – special apologies to our 220v guys who have waited a stupid amount of time for their units – and that goes for our Canadian Distributor as well… very special gifts for these people.
Mark - Does this mean a 220V to 120V 1800 will be shipping to Thailand soon?
droleg and everyone else inquiring about Deep Core status, a couple of finished DC boards are being shipped to the designer for a final inspection from the production run, just to be sure the board, and components are per spec as a final quality control measure. The inspection should be done by end of the week and if all is OK shipments of DCs will begin next week direct from the factory. The waiting is just about over, your patience and understanding are once again appreciated, and once Deep Cores work their magic in your systems you will be smiling!
