Graham Phantom VTA Post Stuck

I can only move the VTA adjustment a few turns either way before it's stuck. Anyone have any idea? I have loosened the VTA bolt on the collar.

Ducatirider,

Check to see if the phono cable connector which plugs into the arm is riding up against the underside of the armboard. I believe this connection moves up and down with the arm VTA adjustment. If there isn't enough clearance it can bind.

Regards,
Same thing happened to mine when I first got it. Bob Graham said sometimes shipping has cuased a slight slippage of parts. he said

" Raise the arm up it's highest point, then slightly loosen the three screws underneath the VTA adjusting tower (this will be on the bottom of the mounting base, so you need to remove the arm from the turntable. While the arm is in the upward position, gently re-tighten the three screws. If this doesn't fix it, try the same thing, but with the arm at the lowest position."

This worked for me and I have had no further problems.

Otherwise you will probably have to return it to Graham.

let is know if this works
success! i forgot to mention that when i first got the arm that it worked properly. i had to do a bit of both, take off my tonearm cable and gently nudge the post upwards plus it turns out that the hex underneath on the right was loose so tightening that freed up the adjuster. my guess is that over the winter some of the damping fluid must have dried up or something.
Thanks for posting the tip from Bob, Shane.

That fixed my sticky VTA tower too tonight. Happy again.

Celebrate with a Graham cracker. :-P
Good to see things worked out Ducatirider and Jasper.

Nothing worse than an expensive toy that is not quite 100% right. You end up obsessing about fault rather than listening to music.
Ain't that the truth? I'm just glad it's a simple fix.
I will drink to that instead of Graham cracker. ;)
