Hi all, you can get about the effect as Cryoed treatments by putting your cables or components in the Freezer for 24 hours and then put them in the refrigerator for one or two hours.........this REALLY works!!! Try this with the cables you have now.......Try this for yourself and see if you "hear a difference"............Richard
I would be leery of purchasing used equipment from someone who freezes his or her components. Wide temperature thermal cycling stresses the electronic components and solder joints. This "treatment" results in fatigue and reduced component life because of the abnormal contraction (when the component is frozen) then expansion (when the component is powered back up). Be careful!
Sorry about that, the up-date on this freezer tweak is to put it in the freezer for (72 hours) not (36 hours).......3 days in the freezer...........Rpatrick
I tried something different that is even better now!.........First make sure the Freezer is set at the (lowest Temperature setting)......then put your CD's, DVD's, Cables, or Components in the Refrigerator for 24 hours........then put them in the Freezer for (36 hours).......then put them back in the Refrigerator for 24 hours.......then put them in the coldest part of your house for 24 hours.........then your ready to enjoy.........Richard
Yeah,I put my ear in the freezer for sometime and the high frequency response increased and the distortion absolutely dropped to zero.Gosh! u guys just crack me up!!!

I can't believe this guy found his way here with this drivel. I cryo tools for work, and cryo makes a difference in tool life. Home freezer does not, it does not compress the grain enough to overcome its internal stress.
Freezer cryo is whishful thinking, and gives real cryogenic treatment a bad name

I'm going to dump Sting cd into the cooler for a while. He's always singing about bad weather and Russia and crap like that. So, he'll have a marvelous time there. or maybe I'll put Foreigner's song "Cold as Ice" in it. Maybe the improved lyrics will be heard as, "you're as old as the ice age..."
But seriously, I'll tell you all one thing that IS true: There's a lot of B.S. out there regarding need for special cleaners for cds. I use a common cleaner (no abrasives, DUH!) with a bit of bleach in it to clean my cds. Very big improvement. You don't need any $30 per ounce liquids. I suppose I'll garnish some enemies for saying it, but it does improve sound significantly.
I didn't used to believe years ago that speaker cable made a difference - they do. I also didn't think interconnects could - they do. Now, I'm seeing big differences with power cords. Cleaning cd's makes a difference. Freezing them? I'll do one, just for kicks. If you're not willing to look stupid, you might not learn. But, I'll think twice about freezing electronics.

Wstritt, Finally, someone has caught on. I would suggest that you visit my posts as well as those of Slappy. I feel that we have posted appropriately given the nature of the "thesis".
Rpatrick thinks all summer about what his Masters thesis should be. Comes up with something along the lines of "Gullibility & civility of message board readers" or, perhaps, "Gullibility & civility of audiophiles" and crafts an experiment of posting some made up goofiness on various web sites and then studies the responses, sees how many bite, etc. Posts similar things in various forums to build buzz and/or lend credence to initial goofiness or to see if one board's denizens are more gullible than another's. Maybe does this in several subject areas - tests audiophiles versus videophiles versus Kerry supporters versus Bush supporters.

Hey Slappy, since you lost those fingers in the cryo experiment, you are now a member of a protected class. Maybe have some money coming your way via a lawsuit against the folks at Westinghouse for not CLEARLY posting a warning on the unit cautioning you not to enter the appliance while wearing wet clothing. If they reject your claim, you can file additional legal action as their denial of your victimhood has resulted in a decrease in your self-esteem.
I can beat that Richard I spend the the last 72 hours chillin in my deepfreeze in wet clothing! Froze my ass through and through! Boy does my system sound better than ever! The mids are so transparent you almost cannot hear them! The only problem is i lost most of my fingers due to frostbite, so i have a hard time with the remotes.
Richard, You Must have Platinum Ears if Frozen Isolation Feet sounded better? Do you even have any Food in your freezer? I'm putting my glass eye in a ice cube tray now, & will judge my plasma with it later!
