I just did a quick search on the new AVM 90 and see they're using the AKM DAC chip.

" The AVM 90 is our new flagship A/V Processor with upgraded audio circuitry, 4 independent subwoofer outputs and a 32-bit AKM AK4499EQ DAC with 768kHz sampling capability. It represents Anthem’s ultimate expression of audio performance."

With the recent fire at the AKM manufacturing plant in Japan, I'll bet whatever inventory Anthem have for their new series using AKM chips will be sold out in no time (same with other manufactures using AKM).

I've owned an Anthem AVM60 for a few years and for power amp an Emotiva XPA 7 channel. Prior to this I had a top of the line Integra home theater receiver and there was a pretty huge difference in sound quality when going to seperates. I would be curious what differences there are under the hood between the new AVM 70 and AVM 90
No str preamp I guess? I have the mrx 720 and was looking at the str for a while. I was waiting for the upgrade cycle because I wanted 10% or so higher performance from the str and possibly hdmi connections. If the AVM 90 (or 70) is equivalent in audio quality to the str, that would be good. I would eliminate a box..

I'll wait for some reviews and feedback from others.
Saw these and read the reviews.  It sounds like they've made some nice improvements but I'm waiting for the AVM60 to go on sale when these come out.
I am sure they will continue with the rock solid reliable and performing gear.
