DVD Player Recommendations

Hello and Happy Memorial Day,

What would you recommend for a DVD player? Currently I have an old Pioneer Elite DV-46AV and an older Pioneer Elite DV-47Ai.

If the ones you have are working, I recommend nothing. Do you also use it as a cd/sacd player or just video?  Need some more info to answer this question.

I would go for the Panasonic UB-9000, as it is designed for good audio playback as well as for DVDs. I’m surprised a product like this exists anymore, as most people have gone to streaming for video.

For a while there Pioneer was making a really excellent player that came in around the 1K mark.  But that went away.  These days, I think one of the top recommendations is the Panasonic UB9000 just mentioned, though at half the price a lot of people think the Panasonic UB820 is a very good performer at a good price.

Another +vote for Panasonic as above. Keep those Pioneer players. Both are classic models.

Happy Listening!

There's the new Reavon UBR-X200 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Player but there's also two other models for less.  Reavon is striving to replace Oppo as king of the DVD players.

The problem with the Modwright mod is that the customer needs to provide the DVD player, and the Pioneers are now unobtainable (at least new).

Thanks for the Reavon mention.  Here's their brand new, middle-of-the-lineup, 1K player.
