Does sellers responsibility end at FedEx?

I would insure it to CYA. If the buyer declined to buy insurance because he felt the additional cost was a financial burden, that would send a red flag up to me. Surely he would want it to arrive in good shape and avoid dealing with the shipper if damaged. The only other step you could take is to add yet another outer box to insure "shock" resistance. But again, why could a buyer afford an expensive item and not want to insure it?

It sounds like you are dealing with a loser of a seller, I would walk away from this deal. Another deal will always come along.

The person who actually pays the shipping agent is responsible for the performance of the shipping agent. Normally, the seller will pay for the shipping and insurance costs and just add the cost to the buyer's bill.

As far as I am concerned, the seller is responsible for any shipping related damages unless the buyer handles all of the shipping accommodations.

John... the way I am reading this is that Jim63 is the seller and has a buyer that doesn't want to pay for insurance, (which is stupid).

I agree that insurance should be mandatory and if the buyer balks, find a new buyer.

Seems kinda like a scam waiting to happen...

Thank you for the replies. I am seller. I have not bought or sold equipment for a long time. I searched hi and low on site to find clarity on this. I wanted a quick answer as i want to provide buyer with fast service. But in the end, I realized I do not want to be the buyer or seller on any transaction that does not use the best and most appropriate shipping means and precautions.
