How about using some quarters? I prefer the pre-1964 that are 90% silver. However the 1965-1969 that are silver/copper sandwich work well too. Stay away from the new state quarters as their precious metal content is very small.
Try your local hardware store (under plumbing supplys). I use 1/2 inch brass end caps. These are the brass threaded ones not the copper solder joint caps. Most are octaginal and have a little indent on the inside that is just right for the speaker cone point.
Costs about a buck each vs thirty or forty bucks for cone feet?
Thanks for all the responses. Right now I am using coins as the last poster suggests. Quarters are too low in denomination for a real audiophile - and way too common!
