Dedicated electrical line - UK

Hello, looking for some advice on how you have set up dedicated lines for home audio.
I am in the lucky position to be renewing all my electrics and will set up dedicated lines for my stereo, and tv room.

What tips do you have?

Recommend wiring?
Links and costs? (UK)

lessons learned

none negotiable

Also listening when it comes to data lines as well.
Thanks all

I would doubt there are any / many differences in recommendations between the US and UK, although the voltage is different. You would want a dedicated line for your amp(s) and one for the remaining audio components. Use oversized wire… 10 gauge and audiophile outlets. Special audiophile grade wire for running dedicated lines is available… I am sure this would be a little bit better… but this could start getting costly. Here the value now and in the future of your system should be taken into account.

I don’t think it is as important, but since you are doing all. The same for your AV system.

Thanks @ghdprentice - the only reason for the Uk comments was if anyone was posting links to wire or other bits.

I have 2 rooms being replaced and 3rd room adding.

can’t wait.

You will be in for a real treat. Each time I have done it I have been happily surprised and never heard of anyone who has not.

What ghdp said...first night you sit down youll pat yourself on the back...seriously big leap forward.Excited for you.You should be able to find all info you need.

Make sure you get quality sockets, e.g. MCRU, Furutech or JAndrews. I also suggest you use Akiko Audio dedicated fuses and grounding at the switchboard for further improvements.

A single direct run of 6mm twin and earth from a 35amp breaker worked for me when I lived there many years ago. I terminated the run in a 4x4 junction box and ran 2 x 4mm NYMJ solid core short runs of 2 feet to 2 dual gang MK sockets.
