Creating compilations in preparation of Bar Exam

Before my National Board Dental exams, I listened to the Allman Brothers at Fillmore East (vinyl,....Polydor pink label) around a million times. I passed the boards with flying colors, and twenty-seven years later, I'm still addicted to the same album. Give it a spin. GOOD LUCK !!!

I took the bar exam 15 years ago in New York, and it was my experience that I wanted music to soothe and relax me leading up to the exam, not to psyche me up. I think staying calm and focused is helpful the days of the exam, so I listened to classical on the morning drives to the exam and found that to be quite helpful. At the time my knowledge of classical music was quite limited (it's marginally better now) and I preferred Wynton Marsalis playing the Hayden trumpet concertos. Good luck on the exam!

Portugal I like the David Sylvian/Holger Czukay album as well. I think the one Richard is referring to is titled Flux & Mutability. The second track(there's only 2 REALLY long tracks) is especially nice. I think you should check out steveroach.com. He has plenty of music to stream for free, he has been making electronic music for over 30 years, he's very prolific so there are tons of albums to choose from(I have almost 70 of his albums) & he is simply considered one of the best ambient musicians ever. The stuff in the Timeroom Editions series is usually very serene and without any "beats". Some others:

I have used led zep i and ii in the past for trials. I would also also stones (start me up) 40 licks would have some great stuff.

Thank you for your replies! I'm going to look into more of the ambient music out there. I already have Eno's "Music for Airports." Regarding the second category, I wasn't necessarily looking for music that deals with law or lawyers. I was looking for music that one would listen to in order to get "psyched-up." Boston and Psycho Killer may fit the bill. Any others?

When I took the exam I would get myself psyched with Boston's first album before the test and during lunch. Nothing like a little air guitar in the car to shake those Law Against Perpetuities jitters.

I used Brian Eno's Discrete Music and Music for Airports when I studied for the Bar. I would also suggest the David Sylvian and Holger Czuzay (spelling?) ambient CD. I thought Ambient music was perfect.
