Comparison of Transports

Robert TN Good Morning to all:   As per previous posts, I have had 2 Project RS2T's and was forced to return them, posts already in audiogon forum somewhere, probably under Project RS2T.

I am going to try a third one, when I can find one, maybe the charm. Love the sound, best I've heard. Except haven't been able to keep the units running without them taking the proverbial crap. If the third one works, it's a keeper, again LOVE the sound. In the event that the 3rd isn't a charm, can anyone ( I realize they're new) elaborate on the New Jay's CDT3/ big dollar transport that weighs in at about 50lbs? Looking for an evaluation/  comparison between the 2. Which sounds better etc.  Thanks as always  Robert

And the third dies the day after the warranty expires.

Perhaps, the CDT3 is a better value.  Great review(s).

Can you tell me what actually craps out with them?  Is it the same issue?  What did Pro-Ject say?  I happen to won one so I am wondering what the issue is.

I can't believe you are trying a 3rd unit! After 2 failures I'd be looking elsewhere.

To those that haven't read all my issues with the RS2t's I've had.  One issue was, puck that sits atop spindle would not fit on. Found a small burr on inside, once removed, sat fine on spindle. Other two main issues with both returned units, is the following: when power switch is turned on, a blue light illuminates, but no screen display at all. Unit will not work, but, shows power to the machine. Sometimes when unit is shut off for a few minutes and the restarted may work perfectly for hours.  Then sometimes it will never restart, just the blue power indicator will light when switch is on, but, No screen lighted and unit will not play. It's sometimes a toss of the dice, will it, or won't it.    That pretty much sums it up. Hope this helps. Many have reports finding a lose screen or 2, and most recently someone post that a screw had come out and was actually rolling around inside the box, No damage luckily and unit worked. Robert TN  I have my fingers crossed.
