Laser may have gone bad, everything has shelf life. You can buy RCD-1072 laser assembly for under $40 delivered from AliExpress.
have you a lens cleaner? sorry for the shouting text, I cannot paste links, and when I grab titles, it comes in huge Arsvita CD Laser Lens Cleaner Disc Cleaning Set for CD/VCD/DVD Player, Safe and EffectiveThe laser’s do get dirty and/or weak, how consistently does it load/read the disc before you hit play? after you try to clean it and get lucky: weak lasers have trouble reading discs prior to play. |

@marley119 ...yeah, if a tlc of cleaning doesn't do it, a new prosthetic for the player. I do have a cd that skips in an unusual fashion..... Handout sampler of local bands...5 or 6, But it's the 2nd from last will getcha'..🤨 Has been known to repeat this activity for as long as you don't notice it.... Popped into a player after the event/party/?! has been going on distracted.....which got turned down awhile ago.... Eventually, someone will notice that song has been going on way too long... How you explain that is up to you.... *G* |
I'm a big believer in realistic music levels (SPLs/as much as possible). Given that my BAT VK-D5 resides closely to my subwoofers; even the slightest bit of dirt on the LASER causes skips. On it's shelf: it sits on a combination of Vibrapods and their Cones (I'm a cheapskate), with the balls up. If they are not in an ideal position: skips result. Your problem could (absolutely) be a case of a dirty or weak LASER. If not: try some sort of isolation system, or- moving the CDP further from your speakers (far as you're able, as an experiment). |
