Cartridge or tonearm problem?

I’m having a strange problem with not getting any high frequency sound out of my right channel. The woofer is moving but no sound out of the tweeter. Left channel is good. I just had a new cartridge mounted and set up by my local dealer a week ago. Everything was sounding great up until I just tried playing records today. I tried crimping the cartridge pins a bit tighter - thought it might be a lose cart lead. Nope. I This was also happening intermittently before getting a new cartridge as well. I talked to a different dealer on the phone before getting the new cart installed. He thought it was due to the stylus not riding evenly in the record groove. I have not messed with the settings at all since having the new cart installed. Very strange that it would play great for a week with a new cartridge but not it’s acting up again.  I dunno. Very frustrated. Any ideas? Thanks.

Paul, I'm glad you found the problem, and the best thing is, the fix was free!

Happy Holidays,

Dan

@islandmandan could have swore I checked interconnects before getting the new cartridge. But just to be sure, I just swapped with some old ones. YUP! It was a bad interconnect. Problem solved. I should have tried that before posting. Thank you! This place is super helpful 😊

@yeti42 forgot to mention that I had already swapped speakers. Problem didn’t follow. I figured it out though. Thanks!

If it’s solely the tweeter output I think I’d suspect the tweeter before messing with the arm. Power down the amp and swap the speaker channels just to check the problem swaps sides as you expect..

Paul, have you checked to make sure it's only in the phono section? Maybe a speaker connection problem, or interconnect problem?

Just keep checking, you're system isn't too complicated, you should be able to find the problem.

Good luck,

Dan
