Cardas Clear Rev 1 IC

My copper IC, take about 40 hours. 8-24 hours they lose a little volume, and the tone control gets a pretty good work out. 20-40 hours the volume comes back and the tone is pretty flat.

Silver or silver clad, 100 + hours. Silver clad is the worst.  The thinner the silver, the longer it takes and may stay hyper bright.
Mill spec wire, works a lot better.. Certain covers, like PVC, teflon, polyvinyl, latex, (tight covers) take the longest time (200 hrs)
Oversize tube, free air, or (Texas) cotton, with 1" teflon tape wrap, 100 hours or so..

100hrs is standard "minimum" response you’ll get from Cardas internally on some of their interconnects. Many folks who’ve never owned Cardas may share burn-in does not matter. And, no its not just a matter of "getting use to it" or letting the brain adapt. After owning and demo’ing various in the line over the past 25 years, I’ll say yes and it’s not just about use and burn-in. For some reason the cables also seem to benefit from simply being uncoiled out of the original packaging and relaxing in position for 2-3 weeks without being moved or touched, in addition to actual usage. "Tension" of the wire conductors and dialectric is another factor related to allowing the cables to settle. Was an added effect from some of the older super stiff versions. Newer versions tend to be less stiff. In 9 of 10 cases, I did start to notice changes after 14 days of fairly consistent play in several different systems, fwiw. For random play, give yourself 30 days. I tended to be too impatient with the cables, but realized change over time, fwiw.

Takes a long time to settle in, kind of aggravating actually for folks who are impatient and need instant gratification. The sound, tone, soundstage, midrange, clarity and bass (fullness) does change some, and yet "clear" is a transparent cable, not veiled over or rounded off (as in passive tone control) like some of the older golden series cables were. As I know it, Clear will be a very neutral "do no harm" to the signal type of cable, not bloated anywhere. Good luck on the patience part, it’s not easy with these cables. I like to say be the 3rd owner of the high end Cardas cables where the first two owners buy/resale, get impatient, and partially burn it in for you with savings. :) Recently been testing Clear Reflection on demo, was a blend of old/new designs. Thanks!! I've moved the IC cable to the digital side of my system for the break in. For me digital is more casual listening and the shortcomings are more evident on my TT.
