Usb is harder to implement and in many DACs it can be the weak link. It will be interesting if at their price point the Bluesound products will have usb that is commensurate with their other digital outs.
BlueOS Changes Coming?
Saw a teaser from NAD that they're getting ready to unveil an upgrade to BlueOS at a trade show soon. Anyone have any info on what will be changing? I've used BlueOS and BlueSound products for a few years. Must admit though I've thought about moving on to something else recently. ROON for its robustness perhaps, or something like the new HiFi Rose streamers with their own interface.

@jetter thanks for the info regarding swapping in an optical to compare against your Cullen coax cable. I’ll give that a try. And @dinosore, thank you for details about USB on the Vault. There is a mini USB port on the Vault that I assumed was usable. Alas it is only usable for updating the Vault software. |
@rongvk I wanted to mention that I just experimented with changing out my Cullen coax digital cable from my Node 2i to my DAC and instead trying a Wireworld Toslink optical cable. Apparently a lot depends on which connection the designer of the streamers and DACs optimize, but in my case using the Toslink connection was clearly not as good as the coaxial. |
@rongvk I don't believe you can use the USB as a digital output on the Vault. This feature was added on the newest version of the Node (N130). The Vault was not updated and is essentially the same generation as the older Node 2i. |
