Maggie’s need a bit of power especially for bass energy- Congrats in landing in a good place.
@davide256 - GanFET amps seem like a warmer SS, did you notice less warmth after the change?
Best amp options between $2k-$4 to power Magnepan 1.7?

@kennyc the orchard audio GAN monos had fixed OPAMPS, the Apollon amps allow OPAMP rolling. The stock OPAMPS on the Apollon sounded a little cold in comparison to the OA GAN amps but the Sparkos OPAMPS were a worthwhile upgrade, a softer and warmer sound. |
The Rogue Audio DragoN amplifiers have been keeping maggies of all sorts very well fed for a few years running at the annual AXPONA audio show in Chicago. The sound has never failed to be excellent and notable. No small feat when competing with systems orders of magnitude greater cost.. Rogue sells other models with their TubeD technology. |
I owned the LRS+ and Mini speakers from Magnepan. LSA Voyager GAN 350 - not good with Maggies, not enough power for the demanding Maggies. Benchmark AHB2 - needs more power but has some beauty in a small room and more restrained music Sanders Magtech is really good with Maggies. Almost as clean as the AHB2 but with more power. Schitt Wotan - Better than all the amps listed above on Maggies CODA #16 - better than the Wotan on Maggies. I have owned other amps that should be good with Maggies, but I did not own the LRS+ or Mini when I had these amps. - KRELL Duo 175XD - CODA #8 - Parasound A21+ |
