Audio Space LS-3/5a Bookshelf with SW-1a Subs

Hello,

Any chance of a 22 watt/ch tube integrated amp being able to drive the above-mentioned speakers (bookselves with matching subs)? Moderate levels in a 10 x 14 x 9 bedroom. Jazz acoustic intrumental and vocals. Thanks.

I can't see any problem since the room is not large and you're not into head banging type of music!
OK, fair enough. Having owned two pairs of Rogers, and for a while with subwoofers, what I was trying to say was the don't produce high volumes no matter what you do. And they don't like too much power as it can blow the tweeters. IIRC they are rated at 25 watts, but most likely 50 is max unless they are subwoofered.

I read the op's post because I'm interested in the LS-3/5a's and you write:

"Should be fine. The speakers are quite inefficient so throwing more power at them is a little like pissing up a rope."

How is adding more powerful amplification to an "inefficient" speaker tantamount to pissing up a rope? What have I missed here?
