ATC SCM50 (passive) v. Devore O/93

ATC 50 active is simply a screaming deal when you factor in the amp cost/matching as part of the deal and done. And yes, I own them. And yes, I’ve owned enough equipment to fill a Listen Up store.

A few things to know: They hate bad recordings. They hate bad source. They like XLR preamp out and not RCA to XLR conversion at the speaker end. They like Gaia footers, they love Townshend platforms. They love Furutech 4.1 power cords.

I could not optimize performance with tube preamps. They were too slow. Class A Sugden preamps and my current Luxman C 900u preamp filled the bill.

I've got a set of ATC 50 passive which I upgraded from a set of PMC Twenty5 26i's.  The ATC's are likely my end game speakers. I listen to almost every genre and they perform well no matter what I put through them.  I am running them with a Luxman Pre and Power combo.  I've not heard the Devore's so I cannot compare.  

Lots of rock records built on ATC 50a - I sold some to Tom Petty and all his records after 2004 or so are ATC built. Pink Floyd uses them. Tools most recent record was built in them and I sold the drummer a pair of scm40a ( but in the pro version).   Lenny Kravitz, Fleetwood Mac, many more rock bands use them ( and jazz bands and orchestra scores and  and and
