Anyone bought a Gryphon Diablo 333?

I will probably get a chance to hear them side by side when the importer gets the 333, hopefully very soon. They also have the Essence, Antileon and Mephisto.

In my part of the world the 333 is almost 50% more expensive than a D300 and the Essence pre/power is 55% more expensive than the 333.

I’m sure the 333 is a bit better/different than the 300, but how much better can it be without being better than the Essence pre/amp…….

@kairosman What were your impressions, was the 333 better than your D300?

Heard both the 333 and 300 side by side today, my impressions mirror yours @kairosman I did not audition the Essence combo.

it uses an ESOTERIC K-05XD SACD/CD Player & DAC, which in paper is far less superior to the Gryphon DAC 3, that the 333 uses internally.

@tinian Why do you think the K-05XD is ”far less superior to the Dac 3”? Based on your description it seems you like the sound of the 05XD?

@tinian When I compared the 300 to the 333 at my dealer I think we were using a Soulnote SACD player (S-3). Not sure how good the internal Dac in the 333 is but I’m very happy with my K-05XD which I’m using with my D300.
