Akiko Audio Loudspeaker Improvers

I have always been a tweaker and it started as a teenager with my cars to make them faster or better and I have continued this with my stereo systems.Sometimes, I think I purchased tweaks before my system and or my ears were ready for them. I think the loudspeaker improvers would have fallen into this category not that many years ago. My system after 50 years has reached the point where I will still be trying to improve it but the cost to benefit ratio when considering major components isn’t always in my favor which is why I like a tweak that doesn’t break the piggy bank but gives my a nice return on my investment.

After reading about the Loudspeaker Improvers, I decided to give them a try .The Loudspeaker Improvers are said to suppress high-frequency interference. I have lousy power coming into my house with the voltage varying between 112 to 120 volts with up to 5% thd riding the line. To address this problem, I placed an Add-POWR Sorcer X4 below my incoming panels.A dedicated line for my system has a Furutech top of the line receptacle and  cover. Plugged into this is a Synergistic Research Powercell 12 UEF with a silly expensive power cable. Plugged into the Powercell is a PS Audio Powerplant 15 into which all my stereo components except for my subwoofers are plugged into so I wasn’t expecting a whole lot from the Loudspeaker Improvers but with a 30 day trial I had nothing to lose except for the cost of return postage.

I found 3 professional reviews online that any prospective buyers should read. Malcom J. Gomes of Positive Feedback and Rich Doron of Stereo Times gave the Loudspeaker Improvers a positive review. Srajan Ebaen of 6 Moons wasn’t that impressed with them. Personally, I agree with the findings of Malcom and Rich but others might agree with Srajan.

In my system the Improvers right from the start had a positive effect which got noticeably better as they were broken in. The soundstage that was already big and detailed got larger and more detailed. I use u-BACCH software and the Improvers meshed perfectly with the software creating an even larger 3 dimensional soundstage than before. If you enjoy sounds coming beside or behind you while using two speakers; I encourage you to try both the software as well as the hardware. The low, middle and high frequencies were all better with the Improvers.

I don’t know how these little black boxes plugged into the negative terminals of my speakers work but needless to say, I will not be returning them to Jaguar Audio.

@roxy54  I agree which is why I cautioned against purchasing these if your system isn’t ready for it, spend your money on the heart of the system. I wish one of my components that comprises my system cost less than these Improvers do but unfortunately they don’t.. As I built my system, I did have components that cost less than these Improvers Improvers and at that time , I would not have purchased these.
