As an owner of an Accuphase amplifier I found this video fascinating as it clearly defines the Accuphase design and production philosophy which I believe is unique in the audio industry. Especially interesting is how they green light new models. That conversation begins at around the 29 minute mark.

Thank you for sharing this excellent and fascinating interview!

As of October 2024 Accuphase had 82 employees and produce only 6,000 units per year thanks to a deliberate policy of non-expansion.

50 years ago they had about 70 employees., and so have not grown very much.

Great watch, thanks for posting it. I always forget about Accuphase but they really do make exceptional gear.

I am very much enjoying my Accuphase components - power supply, pre-amp and amps.  Superlative build quality and sound - keepers for the long-haul...

.......just hope they don't break. All I am going to say on that one. : (

Strange comment. Their build quality and reliability is legendary. There are still original integrated amps from the 70s and 80s still operating. Accuphase considers the reliability a failure if they have even one. One of the highest reliability benchmarks in the industry. Just in case they also maintain parts inventory for years on their models since they remain in operation for decades.

....... I had a failure and possibly the only one in the world. AXISS has been amazing but it has taken awhile. It stinks and my whole system is Accuphase even have the PS1250 line conditioner. I guess I am venting but do agree that their reliability is second to none.

@garebear

Yes I can understand your frustration.   Did you send the unit to Axxis to be repaired?
Curious : What unit failed? What happened? and how old was it?

…..AXISS customer support has been fantastic. AXISS has the piece now and it is a DP 1000 ( purchased with the DC 1000 ) their transport and was bought new and is only about 4 months old .

....you guessed it and it ''eat '' a couple of very rare CD's that a portion of one is unplayable. AXISS was terrific and I should have it back in my hands in about a week.

@garebear

Yep that seems to be the weak point on CD players. Had a nice Rotel years ago that refused to give me back the CD. I think top loading players might be more reliable with fewer moving parts.
