Favorite Newly Discovered Female Vocalist Yes, as the OP I want to thank everyone for their contributions. It’s amazing how many female artists there are that many of us have never heard sing. Quite a lot of listening to be done. Thanks to streaming most of these artists can be easily fou...
Well Recorded Classical Symphonic Recordings @celtic66 I agree Challenge Classics always produces dynamic andvbeautiful recordings.
Recommendations for a new subwoofer? @mylogic Yes the same conclusion I had. The Harbeths don’t really need a sub. And if I wanted to add that octave between 20 and 30 I would need a sub with a crossover below 30 and a steep fall off that does not affect the upper bass and low ...
Recommendations for a new subwoofer? I have struggled with integrating subs. I tried dual RELs with my previously owned ATC 11s with some success but had none with my new Harbeth C7ES-XDs. No matter what setting I experienced a loss of transparency, increased midrange warmth and a le...
Why most $3000 and lower DAC’s sound almost identical Not just the Digital to Analog conversion that makes a difference but also how the Analog output of the DAC is implemented. IMHO up sampling contributes to a less transparent digital sound. Probably why most Ladder DACs sound more analog like.
HOW can components be so expensive, and yet customer service is so bad. Accuphase distributor always responds to emails within a day or two Aurender and MSB Customer support is excellent. You can call and get phone help.
Integrated Amp Pairing for Harbeth 30.2 Accuphase, Luxman, Hegel or MacIntosh. All are very compatible with Harbeth. I have Accuphase and it’s a perfect match. Stay away from bright clinical amps. They poison the Harbeth sound.
New Accuphase Factory Tour From my experience it will continue to improve its sound. After 400 or so hours it really opens up least my P4600 did. Highs will get smoother with the sound having no grain and the bass will get tighter with the soundstage expanding.
power cable factory versus brand name gauges Accuphase explicitly notes in their manual to only use their stock cord. I’ve tried several upgraded cords and so far always preferred the stock. Stock cord is more transparent with a more open soundstage. Upgraded cords are darker with a more up ...
Will a high quality preamp really make a difference in sound?? Also speaker cable Had my MSB Discrete DAC connected to a Benchmark HPA4 pre then into my Benchmark Amp. Then tried the DAC direct to the Amp using the DAC volume control. No difference. In a digital only system a pre is a waste of money. Put the funds towards a bet...
I'm curious. What is your "normal" listening volume? Max volume is 70-72 db That’s typical on orchestral climaxes. Sound level probably mostly between 55-65db for most part. Total range is about 35db to 72db. Speakers are 8.5’ from me and almost 7’ apart and at least 5’ from any side walls The roo...
Best Classical Labels for Sound @gownaus_king Most if not all Music Steeamers such as Aurender have their own App and they usually provide access to Tidal, Qobuz and Roon. I use Qobuz which has an amazing Classical library with an enormous number of HiRes versions. Have yet to...
Question for Atma-sphere, will expensive power cables improve your amplifiers? I have tried several upgrade power cords on my Accuphase P4600 amplifier. None sounded better than the stock Accuphase supplies. Upgrded cords seem to darken the sound, reduce openness and airiness. Accuphase documentation is quite emphatic about...
Accuphase Design Concepts @garebear Yep that seems to be the weak point on CD players. Had a nice Rotel years ago that refused to give me back the CD. I think top loading players might be more reliable with fewer moving parts.
Accuphase Design Concepts @garebear Mechanical with the drawer? Rather than electronic components? |
