a 3 way design speaker with the ESS Heil type sound

I have tried Klipsch RF-7 lll, ADS 780,880, 1290 ll, 1590 ll, ESS 3 ways with HEIL, and Daedalus Speakers. I still own all of these. Is there a speaker with the bass slam and dynamics of Klipsch RF-7 lll, and the midrange and tweeter sound of ESS HEIL, that is as beautiful, efficient, and easy to drive as Daedalus Speakers??

I have VPI prime. AT 760 SLC mm, and Sumiko Blackbird HOMC. Phono preamp is Ayre P-5xe. I run balanced out. I also have a Graham Slee Accession.

I use my Line Magnetic LM-515 CD player with balanced outputs. I like the sound. Great bass and extension. No fatigue with tube buffer output.
I have a Marantz SACD 30n for streaming, and SACD use. The Marantz is definitely a weak link.
I have Simaudio 740P balance into Simaudio 760A.
kinda dry sounding. Thinking this magic unicorn speaker (if existed) would solve my problem.
or do I need a good tube preamp??

....and, at the starting $'s for the 10's, I could diy the entirety's concept.
I would cheat and do 4, since I've already have that in large Heils'.

My question would be what 6.5 raw mid would be this crowd's fav.?

Not too much 'overlap' at top & bottom....and 'nimble'....

It's/they have a hard act to follow.... ;)

@larryi , the AMT 1B’s had a single driver on the face facet with a matched diameter passive on the back...

If the bass seemed out of phase, it really was the room.
I had an early version of an octave eq that came with a dinky but calibrated mic.

And the means to DSP the space with white noise that likely made the neighbors think our vacuum cleaner had been plugged into the wrong plug....

The issue with AMT drivers ’in general’, imho, is matching the response speed of the bass drivers to keep up. My approach is to have a ’mid/high’ 6.5" bass unit(s) and dump the low bass into a healthy sub or 4.....

Like the ’look’ of the Line 10’s over the Cinnamons’......the latter would be a tough sell to the sig other....

Always a pleasure to read some details and thoughts about the Heil AMT's.   @decooney   To have it imparted by one who had been in the trenches at ESS is a special treat. ;)  Having been a fan of their qualities that span effortlessly over the range produced by a seemingly tiny radiator is modern magic. *S*

Along with a new pair, I've an older pair that came with the original Xovers which still work.  Replacing at minimum the caps is but one of the projects on my bucket list, as well as bi-amping them.  So your comments regarding what watts would work well in the care and feeding are appreciated. *5's* with a +10...

I'll have to wander over to AK and give the locals a break from this Walsh Wacko for awhile.. ;)

*Loud fanfare*  Yay, pics! *L*

Would one object if I cut to the chase with some outboard X-overs I have?
I've an older dbx 2way, a more current Behringer 2496 w/sub out, and an ESS Eclipse 2241AM which seems to be a rare bird item....

On that latter one, any insights or comments on it would trigger high gratefulness from yours unruly.🤞🙄

Bi-amp is easy, multiple means of splitting off a sub...or not.  A/B entire, but I'm a First Watt believer even if no tubes involved...although I wouldn't cringe to own one.
But no rush on that, I can get as complex or simple as desired or needed.

8", huh?  Fav of the single driver crewe....  All forward, no back?  Curious, given the AMT dipole in cut-away slots...🤷‍♂️

So you're promoting a Battle of 22's....A piece of ESS history v. the Behr pro upstart?  Welll....

The dbx is a 223XL

I can almost hear it in the rack...... ".....I..... I can be a contenda'...."

And all I wanna hear is the message beep
My dreams, they got a kissing
'Cause I don't get sleep, no

There's a project...

I trust you've in hand the *ahem* 'details' of a 2241AM?  If we send any gentleman into a battle, it behooves me to check it's vitals...at least, check the caps, connects, all that...(one of the caps is suspect; the 223 an intermittent switch which unknown)

Anyway....supplicantly yours,

Jerry

I guess I wanted to keep my designs private, just for me LOL

I'm in kinda same situation, but I've got my own 2w/3w concepts to keep on keeping on with.....

*L* Lotsa' thoughts, not enough lives....;)

Ah....wow.

Stunned. @decooney ...If someone could bring back some memories of a chunk
of my audiohistoria, you just did with nearly all of the above.

Filled in some blanks, too.
I actually had the ’pleasure’ of being in a room with the Transar Trio, ’unpleasurable’
in the fact that they were not being played.

Recognized the large Heil’s, sub likely a big woof, but the ’midrange’....WTF?
’K...c/f rods, alum ’bubble wrap’ kinda stuff, driven bottom only top too close to the Heil....?

Price, like the Apogees’ of the era, in a much higher orbit than the parasail kite I flew on the beach. I’m pretty sure it was the 2nd and last S.F. Audio Show.

The second was where I wore hearing protection so I only had to listen properly to what I wanted v. being merely subjected to. The first one was only slightly less crowded, but most of the vendors were playing their wares Loud.

Always different music that flowed into halls, the sound reaching between showrooms a muddle of beats, riffs, creates a headache that one ought to have after having one’s skull vibrated like that.
