gremlin (noun) informal
an imaginary mischievous sprite regarded as responsible for an unexplained problem or fault, especially a mechanical or electronic one.
+1 @larryi If only one driver is down, you may be lucky and have just blown a component on the crossover. If you can DIY you could switch the crossover from the good speaker to test or just wire it to the down speaker with long wires to save removing it. |
Do all of the drivers in that speaker work? Is what you hear distorted or is it just softer? If it is just softer, but otherwise sounds okay, I would guess that you have a problem with the crossover. In any case, the speaker is probably worth repairing if you like it. The big cost in speakers is the cabinet, and that is obviously not damaged. |
