Charles Eames' lounge chair

I meant the lounge chair: https://www.vitra.com/nl-nl/product/lounge-chair. There is now also a larger version, for modern taller and heavier people. Personally I am very fond of the aluminium group and have one as a desk chair in my study. But for a music chair I think nothing beats the lounge chair. |
While I have an Eames chair in my listening room/living room, my preference has been to listen from Wassily Chairs my wife and I purchased back in the 1970s. In addition to being a beautiful and classic design (see this Wikipedia writeup),
they result in my ears being at an optimal height for my particular
speakers (Daedalus Ulysses), and I would expect any effects they might
have on sonics due to reflections to be very minimal compared to most
other kinds of chairs, including the Eames. Also, the Wassily chairs are very easy to re-position when my wife and I are both listening. Various knockoffs of the Wassily are available at much lower prices than the genuine article shown at the first link. Regards, -- Al |
I second Ekornes Stressless, very comfortable and long lasting. I have "Sunrise" identical to the one in the picture: https://tfe-120c.kxcdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/stressless_sunrise_large-3.jpg |
I'm not sure what the best chair would be, but for SQ I've heard to avoid high back/headrest chairs, as this can cause early reflections or affect the rear reflections from reaching your ears. I must admit, that I really like some the chairs cited above. My chair is boring, makes you sit upright, and I bought a pair used. They're micro fiber and clean up easily when I spill the wine. Maybe micro fiber is a bad thing, I don't know (LOL). Kenny |

If you have a retailer that carries CR Laine, the Gotham chair is quite comfy. The back is not too high, and it puts my ears just where they need to be. It's also nice in that it has a fairly small footprint. An advantage to any custom-ordered chair is the wide range of upholstery options. http://www.crlaine.com/products/chairs-chaises/gotham-2625.html |
https://varierchairs.com/product/peel-i-with-footrest/?attribute_pa_color=black-leather Someone buy this and try it out. Lol I wonder if the headrest is adjustable? I don’t see much detail on the dimensions about a $1k cheaper on Wayfare |
I bought this one when it was on sale. This to me is the perfect audio room chair. It's not cheap, but think of how much we've spent on our components. You can even keep your remote control on the arm. https://www.crateandbarrel.com/briarwood-leather-chair/s271157 |
