Best practices for speaker cabinet care While we are at it, what is the best way to care for the black lacquer finishes without creating micro-scratches?

Is there a ROON sound? Something is not right. You might hear some subtle differences between your chains, but Roon “sound” is not that different. Admittedly, I am not using Roon now, but I have in the past. When you play Dire Straits using Roon, what is the source of m...
Article: "Do Blind Listening Tests Work? My Sessions with the Colorado Audio Society" I am with @ghdprentice, comparisons of anything, components, cables, etc., all require time. Some differences might be immediately obvious with quick switching, however it frequently takes time and listening to decide on the merits of those differ...
Need New amp or integrated...have some options I am not a McIntosh guy, but from what I know everything mentioned is going to sound quite different. I like Musical Fidelity and Hegel suggestions, these will be a step up from the ones on your list. I owned a Rogue Sphinx V1, it did not wow me. ...
Is it better to get dedicated monoblocks instead of bridging stereo paired amps? but I know eventually there would be times when I wish I had more headroom when I ether have a low recording, feel like jamming out super loud, or upgrade to speakers that could be more demanding (like Dynaudios). This, combined with the @jeffb...
Backert Labs Rhumba Extreme 1.4 Congrats on your success with the new gear, never underestimate the power of a good preamp.
Thoughts on Iconoclast interconnects? @sfpeloton Good to hear the AZ Matrix RCAs are working well in your setup zlone The Matrix or Silver interconnects are now on my list to try. FWIW, I also tried the AZ Silver Reference XLR, by they were pretty lean sounding my system. Now up f...
Real experience - Balanced or Unbalanced between Luxman Pre & Power Amps I am not too surprised that you don’t hear a difference, for short runs balanced is not to important. That said, I would lean towards balanced, and the extra db is a good thing. I have used Blue Jeans Cables and they are well made and a good v...
Thoughts on Iconoclast interconnects? @sfpeloton You have a good memory. I was running a pair of the AZ Absolute’s and these were the subject of the post that you are referring to. I have since acquired a set of the Matrix Reference cables and have replaced the Absolutes, liking the M...
Thoughts on Iconoclast interconnects? I have not tried the Iconoclast cables, but I have found the Acoustic Zen Matrix Reference interconnects offer the sound signature you describe when used with my Audionet pre and amp. There are some for sale now at a decent price.
Are streamers digitally enhanced? Aside from those streamers that advertise DSP, I am with the crowd that says streamer sound is primarily affected by clocking and noise and no manipulation is occurring. The absence of noise and the use of a high quality clock makes all the differ...
I think I have an amp problem Given the age of the unit, it could be as simple as a bit of oxidation on the controls, volume or input selection. Assuming these are not fancy relay based controls and the volume is a simple potentiometer, a good cleaning with De-oxit will do won...
What do you do when the music’s not speaking to you? I have a bit of that going on myself, I think this happens to me every spring. I just have to stop listening for a few days, or longer, until the need returns, it always does. I also attended AXPONA and just added some new speakers, too much criti...
Hlep chosing a streamer/server for my DAC Innuos is a solid decision, and they have great software that is well supported. The subject of connections is complicated, but Innuos for the most part uses USB, so decision made for you. Whatever you choose will be a big upgrade over the Mac. |
