speaker upgrade fever Following with interest as I have KEF Reference 1’s myself and am thinking about upgrades. Our music tastes align as well. I honestly think that they will be tough to beat. Just to clarify, reading your post, I don’t think you are saying that ...
Advice on making a speaker change I agree with the others that you should take the leap. You have a very nice system that would shine with something newer. If you want to play it relatively safe, try some of the new KEF Reference line. If you can get to AXPONA in April, that is a ...
Tube Sound With Equalization? I doubt that you would have any success with an equalizer. I owned the Benchmark LA4 and I really liked it, but it is neutral, bordering on sterile. I replaced it with a Pass XP-12, and kept the good resolution and gained a degree of warmth.
Stack Audio-SmoothLAN Network Filter- WOW! @evank I had a similar impression at first, especially the treble issue. Had it in for a few weeks and then took it out. Yes more treble, but I would suggest you examine the quality of that treble closely. I put the Smoothlan back in and did not ...
Where do I go from here? You are off to a good start! I used to have Heresies from the 80’s, great speaker for that period of my listening, but definitely due for an upgrade. Start with speakers, take your time and find a brand/sound you like. I would not get hooked on B&...
Coda 8 amp I ran a Coda #8 with my KEF Reference 1 speakers for a couple years, it will drive yours with ease. Mine is up for sale right now, not because I don’t like it, I just stumbled on some new gear and will stick with it for a while.
DIY Spekon Cable For Rel I have a REL sub as well, but it currently sits idle. If you really want to optimize you might use some OCC wire. Check out: https://www.soniccraft.com/index.php/neotech-wire-teflon-strand-cu-c-296_175_183_230?osCsid=gv7ifg16andlno4jah4935ln72 T...
System advice I am sorry to hear that your upgrade did not go as planned. I am not familiar with the sound of Naim equipment, but regardless it is on the low end power-wise for the speakers. I could not find exact specs on the speakers as there are a lot of Mon...
Stack Audio-SmoothLAN Network Filter- WOW! @evank Did you ever try a new cable? Funny you should ask, I just plugged in an Audio Sensibility Signature OCC Silver cable between the Smoothlan and my Innuos yesterday. I would call the results positive, cleaner, tighter and better definit...
What is the science behind audiophile fuses? Jerry’s accounting is sound thinking from an audiophile standpoint, but if you put a slug in your amp and the amp fails massively and somehow starts a fire, you might be out more than the cost of the amp. It is unlikely of course, but it is the re...
New Amp Advice @sls883 Whoa! That’s a nice system! I am envious of the cables alone. 😀 The Coda is an excellent amp, the Audionet just suits my listening habits and my room a little better.
New Amp Advice @sls883 No, I wish. I have the Amp 1 v2. https://en.audionet.de/machines/amp-i-v2/
New Amp Advice @jc4659 Mind expanding on your comment that the Audionet amp was very different from the Coda amp? How? Which Coda amp? Thanks! I have a Coda #8 amp, version 1. Up for sale if there is interest. I recommend you read through this thread where @...
New Amp Advice You will get a lot of recommendations, I can only offer that I recently replaced my Coda with an Audionet Amp 1 and I am in love with it. Both are great amps, but very different. If you can find a way to audition this brand, I think it would be wo...
What actually determines volume power? Is it watts? Or you can go Class D, but do your research. |
