Resolving Hum with Battery Back-up (EcoFlow) vs Power Conditioners: success vs failure
@carlsbad2 Thanks for the follow up. Agreed that the Sunday night thing could all be in our heads, but it is such a universal phenomena it is worth looking for both physical and mental causes.
RSX technologies Benchmark AC cable
I am not disputing your results, but I looked at the site and saw nothing that distinguished these cords. Several trademark terms with no immediate explanation as to what they mean raises some flags with me. Is there more detail somewhere that exp...
Resolving Hum with Battery Back-up (EcoFlow) vs Power Conditioners: success vs failure
@carlsbad2 interesting graph, thanks for posting. Guessing that flat top is the bogeyman for a lot equipment. Question, how does that graph look on Sunday night at 10:30? Does it ever clean up?
The new Coda S5.5 amplifier: It's a "Petite Beast"!
I have a Coda #8 and it definitely responds to different interconnects. I have tried cheapos, Analysis Plus and am now trying Wireworld with Acoustic Zen on deck. AP was a bit lean, Wireworld has a good full sound, AZ is TBD.
Axpona 2024 who is going and why?
I will be attending this year. I have never been to an audio show, so I want to see the spectacle. But the main reason is to hear the signature sound of more equipment, especially speakers. I have been living in the KEF world for a long time, and ...
Need help choosing my first amp for my first speakers
I used to have one of these with inefficient KEF LS50s, it will drive those speakers no problem. NAD under specs their amps, powerwise they punch way above their weight, and the sonics are decent.    https://www.audiogon.com/listings/lisb9306-n...
Denafrips Terminator 2 + Hermes DDC vs T+A DAC 200
Looking at your system, the DACs you are considering seem like overkill to me. I am not sure it would be worth such a large investment. Something like the Denafrips Ares would be a good fit for a lot less.
Help with XLR ICs.
@atmasphere You might try a pair of Mogami Neglex XLR cables just for fun. They are not expensive and they are very good. Thanks, I will take a look!
Help with XLR ICs.
@atmasphere Thanks for clarifying that equipment can be balanced and still not support the standard, I think that this clears up a lot of confusion. I have been trialing some XLR cables recently, in this case a friend loaned me some Wireworlds an...
My experience with The Music Room
My experience was similar buying KEF Reference speakers and stands. Professionally packed and promptly shipped. I would recommend TMR.
Improving a stone rack
My speakers are sitting on the actual Duluth Gabbro Complex, they sound very good.
Digital with same soundstage as analog
I don’t do analog anymore, but I would say yes, you can get there with digital. Others on this forum have said their digital system is now as good as their analog. You might have to spend a few bucks, and do some trial and error before you get the...
Music through streamer vs CD/SACD
Assuming the use of a common external DAC and redbook format, a CD player is just a streamer with a local source for the digital file. Streamers are the same, with their data source being remote. The primary differences come down to clocks (on the...
Emotiva XPA-2 Gen 3 or NAD C 275BEE or Rotel RB-1582 MkII for Revel F208
I had a 375BEE, integrated version of the 275, and it was really good. You would be happy with the upgrade. Amps sound different, and the NAD is competently designed.
You don't lack bass, you have too much treble
@curiousjim So I’m listening to Jazz @ 65-70 dbs and a trumpet pops in @80-85 dbs and it makes my ears hurt. Are the results the same whether you are streaming from a service/file using the Node or playing a CD? What are you using as connection...
