Worth upgrading from Rotel RC-1572 to the new RC-1572MKII ?
Without doing a deep dive on what they upgraded on the 1572, I would be surprised if you noticed an huge difference. If you want to stay with Rotel, I would go for the 1590. Preamps have a huge impact on your system, you might look around and see ...
MoFi or Harbeth (used)
@lovehifi22 Looking for speakers in the $7,500 to $10,000 range. I like speakers that are more natural-sounding without emphasis on any particular frequency. I also listen off-axis quite often. Have a look at KEF Reference 1’s.
Why can I feel vibration when I touch my network switch or streamer?
It is probably a good idea to separate the power supplies from the components. Try separating them all and see if you can detect which one is vibrating. If both linear power supplies are vibrating, it might indicate you have some dirty power issue...
Speakers that disappear
KEF LS50’s image very well and are smaller. You can go up the chain as well, the Reference 1’s will do the trick too. I believe the coaxial tweeter/midrange design is a bit more forgiving in terms of placement and sitting position.
what cable should I buy for my system?
I forgot to add, there is a strong used market for both of these brands, you can save a lot going used.
what cable should I buy for my system?
Back to your original question, I have had good luck with both WireWorld and Acoustic Zen cables. They both use OCC copper and in every case, excepting power cables, they have made a positive difference when introduced to my system. I have yet to ...
Recommendations for 20 amp electrical outlets
Any thoughts on which components are affected the most by outlets? If you only had one fancy outlet and two dedicated lines, would you use it for the front end components or the power amp?
Listening to what we Like Instead of what we have to
There are so many choices in that price range. I agree with the others that suggested some travel to hear a variety of speakers. I think you will know them when you hear them.
Streamer/Ripper/Storage
Innuos has the features you want, and it has a stable and user friendly user interface. Include a really good USB cable in your budget, it will make a difference.
Innuos firmware update
I recently upgraded my USB cable on my Zenith from a Transparent to a Wireworld Platinum OCC silver. This was close to a full component upgrade in improvement. Really shocked me. I had similar experiences with my old SPDIF streamer and cables. I p...
Innuos firmware update
Great story, streamers definitely matter. You may also benefit from a good digital cable, I have been continually surprised how much difference this can make.
Biwiring make any sense?
I have KEF Reference 1’s, so similar to your situation. I had two sets of Acoustic Zen speaker wires available so I tried biwiring. There was a bit more bass response, as for the highs, I did not notice a significant difference, but my hearing is ...
Recommendations for 20 amp electrical outlets
I have dedicated lines and use the Hubbell 5362 outlets. I swapped in an Oyaide in my previous room, I did not detect a significant difference. I know that others have had good results with audiophile outlets, I may try again with my new room and ...
Questions re. use of an Innuos unit with a Tambaqui
This is probably review, but I thought it is something you should consider. I think it is important to note that the sound can be significantly affected by your choice of connectivity and the strengths of the streamer and DAC in clock department. ...
Amps that don’t impersonate space heaters.
@ghdprentice Thank you for the succinct description of high quality bass reproduction. I loved my slam back in my younger days, and noticed that it disappeared as I got into better gear, to be replaced by a more complete reproduction of the music....
