Warming up digital in my setup
@martinman I'm intrigued by your Pi/Allo setup.  Early on, my first headphone setup used a Pi w/ HiFiBerry Hat.  It worked out really well to stream Spotify -- it was basically set and forget.  I still have a few raspberryPi 3 and 4, so I'll check...
Warming up digital in my setup
I have LS50's on a pure digital system using a Pi/Allo Digione streamer and a Schiit Gumby, it sounds great. The Gumby will give you that smooth sound you are looking for at a lower price than the Yggy. That said, you should first try a dedicated ...
Recommendation on speakers for listening to live music
I am a Dead fan myself and used to have Klipsch Heresy’s, the horns work well for live music. You would need to add a subwoofer or two to round out the low end.
A Note For LS50 Owners
I checked mine and sure enough a couple of the bolts needed a full turn. I was careful not to tighten them too much, I wonder if KEF has a torque spec for them. I can’t say I noticed a big change, but definitely something to keep an eye on with th...
Need help finding Nakamichi cassette deck 2 belt
I found belts for my BX-300 on Amazon of all places. Search Nakamichi belt, there are a lot of models listed.
Moode/DigiOne Sig issue booting
Great! It is a great sounding streamer, you will like it.
Moode/DigiOne Sig issue booting
Try this, let it boot up to the dark screen and then on a pc or your phone connected to the same network try going to Moode.local in your browser. You may have to connect the streamer with Ethernet cable at first. If you can get in this way you ca...
Moode/DigiOne Sig issue booting
I have a similar setup with a DigiOne and Moode. Since you know nothing about the version of software loaded and it’s configuration, I would recommend that you just load the latest version of Moode onto the memory card. This is not too hard to do,...
DAC diminishing returns
You don’t mention which streamer you are using, give this critical component consideration along with the DAC. I have seen significant gains by upgrading mine.
Definitely a good listen
@boxcarman Nonoise, I wish I had a local jazz station to listen to.  I do not use the internet radio, seems to be about like satellite radio, meaning it sounds washed out. Getting a little off topic here, but wanted to let you know of some bett...
Have you upgraded from a Freya?
@marco1  Be prepared to spend a sizable sum to get a significant improvement.  I just upgraded from the original Freya to an Atma-Sphere MP 3.  The Atma is 10 times the price of the Freya and considered to be one of the better preamps available ...
Balanced versus single ended
Just for the purposes of discussion, what if you used an AES48 compliant cable between compliant devices, but used such poor quality wire that both signal wires  in a cable negatively affected the sound in an equivalent fashion.
Balanced versus single ended
@ditusa  The wiring diagram below shows the correct way to make balanced cables compliant to the AES48 standard. Interesting. Are you saying that both amplifiers and cables that are billed as balanced might not be to standard?
Balanced versus single ended
If audio components are "truly"  built to the AES balanced standard then there is minimal to no sonic differences heard with various balanced cable regardless of their cost or claims.  My components say they are balanced, but how does one reall...
Tube noise when gain is increased, tube issue?
I have the Freya, no hum or noise at any level. Guessing you have a bad tube.
