Emotiva ERC 3 cd player versus....
"I guess if I want to make an upgrade from my old Krell Kav 300 cd( which I am using now as transport), and not to spend a fortune, I should look at used transports of the nineties...for instance I would like a Theta Jade or an Audio Alchemy DDS p...
The most dynamic & transparent bookshelf
"Zd542: Yes, it's hard but I think Proac Response D2 suit me well, dead neutral and amazing bass range, for your info, I'm driving my speakers using no hype technology products like JDS Labs ODAC, Blue Jeans cables, and Class D Audio power amplifi...

This is great news. Now you have an excuse to buy a new preamp.
Room correction - what device works best?
"Many audiophiles are "purists" at heart, and as such are closed-minded to anything that does not fit their purist mindset. In the case of room acoustics and EQ keep in mind that most of the people giving advise have little or no experience workin...
Room correction - what device works best?
I think you would be better off not using a correction component. Tune your room instead.
Amp for B&W Matrix 803 S2
I ran my 802 s3 with a 40 watt/ch Pass Aleph. It had no problem at all driving the 802's.
The most dynamic & transparent bookshelf
"Any other recommendations? Once again, I'm not looking for speakers with colorations, must extremely dynamic, dead neatral and transparent without snake oil!"There's really no way to define those qualities. They'll mean different things to differ...
Musical Fidelity a3.2 to 5.5 Integrated Amp Volume
"So just for the sake of understanding, the 30mV difference between the two is causing the change? That seems awfully marginal to account for the LACK of volume output the a5.5 has versus the a3.2"That's not the only thing, but yes,the difference ...
Tell us your worst audio dealer or mfr. experience.
I get what you're saying about having a bad experience, but is it fair to condemn all retailers because of it? Also, if you don't have any good local dealers, I can recommend some excellent dealers that will do the right thing by you.
Planars/ Electrostats benefits over box speakers?
"05-06-15: MapmanZd what's behind the speakers and distance to it certainly matters and worth tweaking for owners but I've moved on to omnis and not looking back anymore"Sorry, I didn't mean for my post to be just for you. It was just a general st...
USB DAC question for neutral setup. Please help.
I don't know if anyone has mentioned this, but much of the sound quality with computer audio comes from setup and configuration. Things like ripping and playback software have an effect on SQ. Having the software isn't enough. It needs to be prope...
Mark Levinson 433 Pop sound
He's right. You definitely want to make sure really balanced, and not just SE with xlr connectors. If you live near a music store, you could try those Mogami balanced cables everyone is always talking about. They're not expensive. If you live near...
Musical Fidelity a3.2 to 5.5 Integrated Amp Volume
"Does the whole "made in England" vs "Taiwan" thing have anything to do with it perhaps?"No, it has nothing to do with that. If you look at the specs on both amps, you'll find that they're some are different, like input sensitivity. Think of it th...
Rega Bias 2 or Clearaudio Concept V2, MM
"Which one gives a fuller soundstage, tight bass that does not smother, cleaner highs without harshness, open mids that allow supporting or back row vocals or instruments to participate, better control of the low mids or upper bass -- the cello, t...
Planars/ Electrostats benefits over box speakers?
"Planar backwave is not in phase with forward firing wave. As a result, planars can have very holographic imaging when set up right but it does not necessarily sound coherent and natural like an omni."I don't know if you've ever tried it, but putt...
