32" television
I thought they didn't make CRT's anymore either. I'm not really into video but I used to have a Sony XBR Squared, or (2). I don't know how it compares to Wega's, or any other CRT, but I thought the picture was great and so did all my friends who a...
Best Amp for Timbre, Depth and Spatial Resolution?
How do you connect the Behringer amps to the B&W's? Can you use regular speaker cables?
Will bass overload room?
You won't have any problems. I had the 8's in a room about the same size.
Looking to add warmth
I agree with Clarles1dad on the accuracy issue. I never got that argument. I don't mean to offend either. From what I see of your system, you should be able to make some huge improvements. The problem is what should you do? I understand your proble...
upgrading pre phono and cart
You really can't go wrong with the upgrade. I had the 10x5 and thought it was great. I upgraded to the p75/20low output combo and found it to be a big improvement. There's nothing sideways about it.If you don't have any local dealers, try The Cabl...
Why is it that?
Lewm, I tend to agree with what you are saying. As I stated in my last post, my comments were based on me being under the impression that the OP had a 23 year old preamp. With regards to the cost/synergy issue, I gave an example of the DV cart and...
Why is it that?
Stereo5,Sorry about that. From your post, it looked to me that your preamp was over 20 years old. I don't really follow the model numbers close enough to pick that up. Now I see your issue. It may very well make sense to go with a SUT. I still wou...
Vandersteen 2ce vs Sonus Faber Luito
Its kind of a hard question to answer. The only reason I responded is because I know Ayre and Vandersteen fairly well and have heard the SF's. No doubt you've heard that the Model 2's would be a good match for your amp. I agree, but you are the on...
ayre v-5xe has consistant noise after warm up
I'm starting to think that it was just a miscommunication between you and Ayre. I thought you were talking about a noise coming through the speakers, not the actual amp itself. I will say, though, that I've spoken to Michael myself a couple of tim...
ayre v-5xe has consistant noise after warm up
I agree. I can't imagine Ayre not being able to fix that. That said, can you list your system and any recent changes you made to it? Also, how long have you had the V5 and was it upgraded?
Why is it that?
I'm not saying that the AI is not good. It just looks like it doesn't have the options you may need and a separate phono stage, to me, is just a better/cleaner way to go about it. You can also get better synergy and save some money. Here's an exam...
Why is it that?
I would just get a good stand alone phono stage and be done with it. That way you can use whatever cart you like. Also, you can just use regular IC's and not a phono cable.
Tube in Preamp or Power amp?
"I have been thinking to move from a solid state int. amp to the tube world. If I were to go separate and if one has to be SS, would it be better to have tube in the preamp or in the power amp? or would it make any difference since I'm mixing tube...
Tried DSD?
A good test would be to download a DSD album and compare it to the same recording on an SACD. I'd do it myself but I don't have anything that plays DSD.
Threshold Amp repair
I would ask your local Pass dealers.
