Need a very neutral interconnect-
"I hear people talk about "the blacks" but am clueless what that means."Its a combination of a very clean top end and a wide dynamic range. All the components in a system contribute to it, and having a good recording also helps.
noob DAC question
"So first question is if bypassing the soundcard is imperative? If I use any of the soundcard outputs will the soundcard attempt by definition to interpret the data or can it be a straight pass-through? If the latter, what about using the video ca...

Objective vs. Placebo relating to system changes
Mceljo,I've read through your posts. You do seem well intentioned in that you are at least willing to consider the possibility of some of these products making a difference. I just see an unwillingness to really get to the heart of the matter on y...
Amp upgrade for Revel M20 speakers
"If I went with either the Creek Destiny integrated or the McCormack DNA 125 (with the AI L1 pre), is it fair to say that I would likely experience a noticeable step up in performance as compared to my current setup (AI L1 pre into B&K Ref 222...
Objective vs. Placebo relating to system changes
Mceljo,This really has nothing to do with science. (I'm just responding to your post's, not everyones.)"I have Nordost Sort Kones under my SACD player and after several attempts to prove to myself that they did or did not make a difference I left ...
Objective vs. Placebo relating to system changes
"It seems that many who so desperately profess to hear the "mind blowing" differences are also the ones that desperately try to debunk double blind testing as they know they'll get outed to the nonsense.Snofun3 (System | Threads | Answers | This T...
noob DAC question
A CD player has a built in DAC. Otherwise it wouldn't be a CD player. A good way to look at it is digital is optional, but analog is not. We can't hear in digital, so in order for you to be able to listen to music when using a digital source, is t...
Anti-skating on VPI arm?
VPI doesen't believe in anti-skating. I don't have the exact same model that you do so I'm not sure what you mean with the filament. On mine, they say you can do a basic anti-skate adjustment by unplugging the tonearm cable, rotae it, and then plu...
Objective vs. Placebo relating to system changes
I have to agree. You really don't want an answer. For whatever reason some people just "don't like" certain aspects of high end audio. Don't ask me why. But they go on a crusade of never ending questions that they know can't be answered or dealt w...
Amp upgrade for Revel M20 speakers
I had the Naim. I know some people like it, but I thought it was an overrated pile of junk. The Creek would be my first choice. I had a 5350 and I heard the Destiny at length driving a pair of Magnepan 12's. It was able to drive those, so the Reve...
Pathos Logos - Volume control problem
I was thinking that you may have a combo of a very efficient speaker and a high gain source, or maybe even using a phono preamp by mistake. Given that you have no phono input and your speakers are anything but efficient, I'm not sure what the prob...
Help: WPC for my speakers
I don't know your speakers either. Regarding the bass issue, more power can almost always help. Given that I don't know your speakers, I really don't know what to make of the imaging. Are you sure they are broken in?
Pathos Logos - Volume control problem
Sorry. I forgot to ask if the amp has a phono preamp?
Pathos Logos - Volume control problem
You need to list the whole system. The other components may play a factor. Also list exactly how everything is connected.
