Dynaudio BM5A mkII problems setting them up
What kind of problems are you having? As long as you have a way to adjust volume, you should be able to run IC's from your dac to your speakers.
Wadia cd player repair
Stereo Exchange in NYC should be able to fix it, as long as they can get parts. They're service department is in the store so its possible they may have what you need. Another option would be to upgrade to the SE version. SE is a transport upgrade...
Have thiel 3.6's. Will mcintosh ma6600 work?
"06-21-14: UnsoundThe Mac's with their autoformers won't double down into the 3.6's rather challenging load. Not what I would recommend."I thought that was the whole point of using autoformers. The amp sees a consistent load.
Looking for Tube Pre-Amp Recommendations
I had the PV-12. As much as I like CJ, that preamp is a little too dull. Being that you have the Power 3's, it might make sense to go with something balanced. SF is a logical choice, but if you can't find one, an Aesthetix Calypso is a great choic...
Mount up floorstanding speakers, should we?
Try tilting them back and see if that helps. Also, if you do need to raise them up, moving them closer to the wall may help restore some bass.
Solid state "single ended" pure class A preamp
I'm pretty sure a BAT VK-42SE has the features you are looking for.
Tube preamp vs Tube cd player
"Try a tube CD or DAC. You probably won't go back. Less fatigue and more musical."Compared to what? Tubes don't guarantee anything. Like anything else, they have to be implemented properly or you can get bad sound, like any other design. If you ar...
Tube preamp vs Tube cd player
"so in an ideal setup, which do you prefer?1) "SS" cd player, tube preamp, "SS" poweramp2) tube cd player, "ss" preamp, "SS" power amp"This question really can't be answered. You're not taking into account the differences between similar component...
Brands w/ first order x-over, time & phase aligned
Vandersteen is hard to beat. Once you get used to them, its very hard to move to something else. Not too many companies make time and phase correct speakers. The design process is very difficult and time consuming. If the Vandersteen's are too rev...
Tone equalizer in computer
Yes. I believe you can use what ever EQ functions are available in your playback software.
Integrated Amp with Separate Volume Controls
"10-29-14: CelloroverConrad Johnson CA200 has this feature. A used one will sell for between $3-3400. I used one for years and wish I never sold it."Why CJ doesn't make SS products like this anymore amazes me. It was so well balanced in every aspe...
No more room on 1tb hard drive..what's best to do
The ones that I opened up are Seagate's. I think I did a WD also.
Soundlab speakers with sub woofers?
"10-29-14: AtmasphereThe right amp is what makes for bass on a Sound Lab. Generally speaking, transistors are not a good match. The reason is the Sound Lab, like most other ESLs, has a 10:1 change in impedance over its range, and is over 30 ohms i...
Rethinking my set-up - Advice Welcome
Don't buy anything major right now. Save up and get a good preamp. Unless there's something wrong or mismatched with your other components, a preamp should make the biggest improvement in SQ.
